any of you lot actually go to the trouble of phoning the traffic line for radio 2 up to report summat??
do you use the 0870 number to do so■■?
did you know that 0870 numbers are charged at 11p / min more from a mobile
try adding 020 77655488 to the phone to bypass the 0870 number
theres a website that you can logon to http://www.saynoto0870.com to find cheaper alternative phone numbers (this website was featured on R2 oddly enough)
and yes I have started to contribute to the traffic reports recently inc today
i think its rubbish… if i was anywhere near any of those callers i would divert to a different route cos some on them are permantly stuck in traffic its the same people phoning everyday and if i was their boss i would sack cos it sounds to me they go looking for traffic just to phone up.
Oddly enough, on the Steve Wright show, they were complaining about all the companies that use 0870 numbers and make money from the phone calls. Touch of pot calling the kettle black I think!!
Oh yes, I do call in if I see something thats just happened and might cause a big problem, like a 3 hour closure of the M2 a few weeks ago!!
I always phone when i see trouble on the roads, usually to inform them of an accident they have been reporting all day and when you get there its gone.
If noone told them they would keep reoporting the same ones all day.
■■■■. If I’d have thought about, Martin Lewis (MoneySavingRxpert) was on the JV show today, and he also opposes the use of 0870 numbers.
I could have sent a email asking for his reaction to the BBC now charging for this service particularly as over recent years they have turned the personalities into an integral part of the programmes and actually save money by doing so because they play less records, and thereby limit payments in respect of Performing Rights.
