R T Keedwell

I see the 20 plate Renault has Carlisle on the front. I wonder what blue eyed boy or brown nose is getting that? A bit of a slap in the face to the drivers, and other staff, who have been made redundant there. Is there no end to Mr.Keedwell’s arrogance?

Well well well, my latest info is that . At Carlisle, there were no subbies, but there are now 13, give or take. And not a whisper from Mrs.Keedwell. She’s obviously so busy running the website and social medias

Please read the forum rules on the posting of rumours.

I find it amusing that all the supposed best drivers above are getting there knickers in a twist about redundancies , surely if there as good as they like to keep telling everyone then no company could afford to loose them , and in the event of them ever being made redundant there’d be a que for there services , as there reputation would go before them
Though the size of there heads & ego may present a problem fitting through door frames at interviews

Why does making drivers redundant mean you can’t put new kit on the road?

Chances are it is cheaper to run a new truck than one going back to the manufacturer. They may have had five going off fleet, but only one coming in? Maybe the new truck has a maintenance contract so saving on workshop staff?

You do understand that new kit doesn’t have to paid for with actual ten pound notes in one lump?

Oh I see, so you’d be quite happy to be made redundant while your by then ex-colleagues swan about in new lorries?? Maybe of course, you’re one of Mr.Keedwell’s blue eyed boys, you couldn’t care less about 10s of your colleagues being out of a job. Charming!!

Yes, trucks come to end of contract go back to the dealer and there might be penalties to cancel if the deal’s already agreed prior to this.

Alternatively if drivers have been made redundant presumably there’s surplus vehicles and it could make sense to chop them in against a smaller number of new trucks.

Too be fair mate, if losing a few non productive colleagues and pee takers means my job is more secure it works for me.

To be fair mate, you haven’t a clue about the Keedwell situation, and I can assure you that not all those made redundant are non productive and pee takers. In fact, some of those involved would take your comments as grossly insulting!

yeah ok

Why wouldn’t the driver who does his/her best for the company, not be rewarded with the new truck on the fleet?

I don’t know the lead time on ordering new trucks but I imagine it was ordered pre-lockdown and as has been stated they may have de-listed some older less cost efficient motors.

I’m sorry for anyone losing their job, but the Keedwells (and other hauliers) will be looking to keep their business running even in a reduced size, unfortunately it may not include me and you in their plans as they rationalise.

Parked behind the Renault are about a dozen curtainsided pallet vans, so I doubt even the worst run haulier will buy new vehicles and sack ALL its drivers

You have Keir Starmer now, Keir Hardie is dead!

It’s came up on Indeed that they’re looking for 4-on-4-off trampers out of Hensall. Could be of use to some.

Is this a way of reducing wages , I got rang about a 4 on / 4 off job , the job , 4 days is ok but I don’t want weekends , didn’t get to the stage of asking what pay was compared to 5 day a week

One month in, and almost every week they’re advertising on FB for 4 on 4 off and trampers every week, Highbridge and Hensall.

And I heard this week, that Keedwell(Scotland) are advertising for trampers, at £40,000 a year■■? McLellan obviously been on the vino!! lolol

So 58 hrs a week absolute max. That equates to a minimum of £13.26 ph. I find that extremely unlikely for Keedwell, especially in Scotland. More fudging with the numbers to make the job look better than it really is? :unamused: Didn’t someone say on here a while back that they paid a tenner an hour all hours? Robroy perhaps ?
