Quiet and dark place to park near Heathrow

Due to my work (sprinter driving), I have often to wait a few/several hours for my load from Colnbrook.

Usually I know in advance where the load is going to come, so no point for me to sit at the place (especially, that it’s very busy and there is rarely place to park). I can just come when it’s ready for me.

Most of the time I drive van with no sleeping box and the waiting time is too short to be worth to go and look for some digs.

So I just carry my sleeping bag with me and I am taking a kip in the van. Off course there is no curtains in it or nothing - it’s just in most cases ordinary sprinter van.

And there comes my question (maybe naive): is there any quiet (I know, I can’t do nothing with this planes every minute, but at least not a layby next to main road) where I can park?

Last time I’ve been there, I spend nearly 20 minutes if not more driving around and looking for a quiet spot when I can have a kip without being flashed by someone’s headlights all the time or without a lamppost with a light straight into my eyes…

Finally I parked at the gate to the quarry or something, of the J14 M25 and into the horton road towards Stanwell Moor, then first right (next to the caravan park) but I am affraid that I might be obstructing lorries going into the quarry and don’t want to be parked on grass…

Any thougs about some quiet lane with no traffic, no homes arround (i don’t want to park in front of someone house) and preferably lot of trees to give me some shadow when waiting is during the day?

just ask to park where you drop ,
let boss know,
sorted.

there ain’t any dark places that spring to mind, around there, we used to get our head down in the back ,would use one of those foam sheets that are used to protect furniture from getting scratched ect to lie on as they made a good substitute for a mattress nice a dark in the back of your sprinta,But not good in hot weather as for quiet, then you have the likes of the Tesco cark park,@ staines,or on the pub(golden cross ) car park on the ind est at colnbrook if it’s still there,if you don’t fancy tescos, you have the msa on the m4 as long as you don’t intend on being there for over the 2hrs free , or the transport cafe on the a4 colnbrook bypass

Must be a bit of a job to find somewhere quite around Heathrow  Only stayed in that area a couple of times, but never found anywhere quite. Good luck with it.

theres an Esso garage on Shepiston Lane, parking for 2 or 3 trucks, should be ok with a van, just off j.4

I’m sure it’s difficult to find somewhere quiet to park around Heathrow but if you have to sleep across the seats for a couple of hours or more and the light bothers you do what we had to do in the days before sleeper cabs :exclamation: :exclamation: Improvise  A couple of blankets or some old curtains and a handful of pegs and the job’s sorted

Sure you’ll be able to work something proper out from that bit of ‘old hand’ experience :sunglasses:

It could be me knocking on your door Orys    Although I won’t be touting for " business "…unlucky

I’m down that area quite a lot as I’m airside passed and tbh you’ll struggle to find a quiet spot , can’t you park a bit further away and run to the drop/collect when needed ? That’s what I do anyhow

That’s what I’ll finally will have to do obviously, but it’s always worth to ask, isn’t it?

Try moor lane just off the wraysbury road at J13 of thr M25.

Follow it up to the top where it hooks left and under the M25. You can either sit under the bridge if you want it nice and dark or just a little further up the road on the bend under the trees.

The road is basically a dead end with just a roofing company a little further up. We used to leave rail plant under the bridge and its nice and quiet.

In a sprinter you’ll be fine but a wouldn’t recommend it with an artic. I’ve had the lift the trailer round on a few occasions to get myself out again.

Cheers
Neilf

There is a quiet ind estate near Heathrow . Its a bit hazy but Nippon Airways have a warehouse there . Security on the gate no prob. If they do ask just ask them where Nippon is. Plenty of quiet parking day +night . No Facilities .

Not the best area to find somewhere quiet. I have parked in Poyle a few times and there is a pub, so 6 pints of Guinness helped but if I lived around there I would bloody complain about the noise.

Yes its good place - North Heathrow Service Station but full of private taxi or chauffers car parking there for waiting to pick up someone from the Airport also there got about six trucks parking, I have seen some regulars of Polish trucks parking there, you can have some good natters with Polish drivers

or more closer to Colnbrook - Plenty of layby along on the Colnbrook by pass/Bath Road - just get off from M4 J5 or small layby in Poyle Road, there always has Jan De Rijk trucks parking there or go more further - Layby beside the Corus Steel warehouse also if you like to have some hot foods or cuppa of coffee then there got a burger caravan but if you don’t like then

If you really want dead good quiet and very dark place to park and very closer to Heathrow!!! then go to Accomodation Lane / Tarmac Way (Saxon Way Trading Est) Get off from M4 J5 and turn left - heading to Colnbrook Bypass A4 then drive straight and you will see a big interchange traffic lights cross. Just turn left (see Saxon Trading Est / Waterside or Harmondsworth Moors) then drive thro the small roundabout - turn left (Follow the Saxon Trading Est) there will have some odd muddy layby or old gate beside but not suitable for Lorries - its tiny road.

If you want to go a little further out from Heathrow Central try Hounslow train station car park. There’s a company I deliver to opposite the station and it’s like a small Ind; Estate but with no security or clamping and a little bit of free easy parking
Still need the blankets & pegs though :frowning: :frowning:

If you want have a good wash - free showers at Heston MSA - free 2 hrs parking  ( best go to Heston Westbound side heading to Wales not Londonbound (terrible one)

I think that Betz’s and Neilf’s spots are just something I would be looking for, but thanks to all for the advice. I might pop into the gas station with a Polish drivers for a chat if I would not be too sleepy

I am off next morning I am off to bed

Oh, that I know. But thanks anyway.

Free parking for 2 hours + free shower is only good thing with MSA (as long as shower is clean).

I used to do it then park my lorry on Church lane, just off the J3, but in the morning sometimes there might be some queue to get back to M4…

A nice quiet place away from the flight path but within easy reach of Colnbrook would be Old Slade Lane in Richings Park, used to have my lunch down the end of it many times, its a dead end as the M25 now cuts thru it, few houses at the end but plenty of room to park, i used to park my 7.5 tonner down there. If not, still on the same lane is a yard for a stable, plenty of room to park a van up, no-one used to bat an eyelid when i parked there. Otherwise if you go back up the lane to the main road, turn right and about 100yds is a crescent under the trees called St Leonards Walk, very quiet and plenty of room to park, only 2 houses there i seem to remember
