Just thought I’d put an update on here as my last post was asking advice about going for a new career in truck driving.
I made the decision to go for it and sorted my medical and theory test etc.
Started my class C training at the beginning of this week. All went well and the trainer was happy with my progress.
Yesterday was my test day. The drive went really well up until I was taken on to a very wide carriageway over a bridge. I had in my mind advice that had been given about getting up to speed when the road allows, so I accelerated up to 50 mph then suddenly realised that although it was a very wide carriageway it was still in fact single so I should have been doing 40. I got back to the test centre and was told that I had only got 6 minors but had failed because of the speeding on that short stretch.
Gutted doesn’t even come close but I know I’ve only myself to blame.
Retest in 2 weeks now so hopefully I can put the record straight and pass.

Unlucky mate, sorry to hear that. My Cat C took two goes and I’m sure you will get it next time. 6 minors is a very good score so you are obviously up to the mark. All the best for next time. 2nd time is actually easier as you know exactly what to expect.

You’ll have it next tinw. Took me two and I wasn’t impressed I was failed the first time. I’d seen the car turning right across me at a junction, adjusted road speed to suit and give the car plenty room to clear the give way lines as I was turning left. The examiner said mind the car. I repkied yes, saw him before he started to turn. Never got within 50yd of it and he failed me because he said he had to warn me. Faultless other than that. Had a different guy second time he said I was a natural and the first guy was a d1ck.

Well I had my second attempt at my class C test today and thankfully passed with just 2 minors.
I am over the moon to say the least!
Need to sort out 35hrs of periodic CPC now.

Well done m8 ,now get straight back in and do your C+E if you can afford it , it will be worth it ,whilst the training is fresh in your head all the best regards Tom
