One of my mates has just passed his class 2 and currently works Monday to Friday (45 hours) moving cars round a compound. He’s wanting to drive wagons on a weekend but as far as I’m aware he can’t do more than 6 shifts and a maximum of 90 hours in 2 weeks. Is this correct?
Also if a class 2, 6 car transporter has a spec lift fitted he can’t drive it either can he?
Any help in clearing up this matter would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know a spec lift would need a C+E (certain of that) and its use is restricted to emergencies - the second of those would need clarifying
The weekly rest rules would mean that generally he could drive LGVs for one day every other weekend and all the other work done in the other job for the fixed week when he did drive the LGV will need officially recording - easiest way is to use separate analogue cards - one for each day with name date start and finish time on each card - After 29 days the cards can be binned

There’s no reason why he can’t do more than 90 hours in two weeks if he want to, if he sticks to doing a driving day every second week he’ll be fine as far as the law is concerned.
