Question from my wife that I can't answer >.<

No, it’s not that kind of question
I’ve been off this week, but watching the weather North of the Border, and my missus asked whether I can take a weekly rest whilst stuck away from base during the week. NOW, I know I can take a 45 hour, but am I allowed to take a reduced (24 to 44 hours) whilst I am in the cab? And if I am snowed in, for example, does it count as rest or other work? I have no freedom of movement if I’m half way across the M62 up to my chuff in snow
Just wondering now, because it’s the first time she’s asked me something that I can’t answer immediately :imp: (well, apart from "where the hell were you last night■■?)

Yes, you could count that as rest. You aren’t driving, you aren’t working and you can dispose of your time as you wish, or as much as anyone can while away from home. No different to spending the time on a service area, lay-by or industrial estate.

I thought so, but wanted to check
Only got stuck in snow once (woke up in Barnsley and couldn’t get off the estate), but I was only there for 18 hours or so.

Do you mind if I pretend I knew it all along?
Thanks for the quick reply too.

Be my guest. Did you shout the answer through to the kitchen? If so she won’t know where you got it from. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry it took so long but I’ve had a couple of glasses of red with my meal and it’s interacted nicely with the painkillers I’m taking so reactions a bit slow.

I can’t believe this was missed by coffeeholic :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: you can’t take a 45 in the truck, isn’t that correct neil?

If you are stuck halfway across the M62 you are free to dispose of your time, you can either go skiing or ice skating

WBIS. If you are snowed in you can take 72 hours in the cab

It wasn’t missed, I saw it when I first read the post but I just assumed it was a typo because otherwise it doesn’t really make sense. Replace can with can’t and it makes sense. If he thought you could take a 45 why would he think he couldn’t take a reduced. But knowing he couldn’t take a 45 he was checking if a reduced was allowed.

■■■■! I missed that as well  Quite right, yet another typo, cheers guys.
