Hi peeps,
Does anyone know much about PYE group in New Zealand? It’s a seasonal trucking job for the harvests.
There seems to be a real positive vibe online but I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience?
Thanks guys

Can’t help for PYE group, but I’m currently living here driving trucks for a farm contractor over harvest. Have been since September, If you want any advice fire away. The main things I’d say is be prepared for very long hours and a step back in time when it comes to trucks. Crash boxes are still the norm and I’ve even driven lorries from the early 80’s here. However for a proper trucking experience not just being a steering wheel attendant and the scenery / empty roads you really can’t beat it.

Hi, not a truckie but I have worked for the Pye family while employed at an irrigation company in NZ around 10 years ago. Have been involved on most of their farms and met all of them. It is a greater family set up of older father and sons carrying on the business, all hands on. They would come to meet us in the paddocks, very approachable, friendly handshakes, they would be happy to discuss the job with us.
Pretty well anyone in South Canterbury will know of them, they have a good reputation. I think you will get on OK. If you already have a job, no worries. If you are about to apply for a job, go and see them personally and have a chat.

Would like to know more about driving for an Agri Contractor about NZ■■?
North or South Island best■■?
Seems to be big demand for British/Irish drivers to go out over our Winter time??
By long hrs what you mean 0400 starts to 0200 finish prob 7days week??
There a lull from say grass silage harvest finishing until maize harvest starts??
It’s on my “bucket list” to try when I retire along with a silage “Custom Cutter” in USA and back there for a wheat/corn/soybean harvest run again.

Just keep in mind 30 % + of New Zealanders have fled NZ,most to Australia, and why would you need any staff with the abhorrent Unemployment rate in the Socialist Nirvana of New Zealand?Have to tell you the facts.

Just under a third of the population, about 1.3 million people “flee” to the western island to participate in , what is the most exploitative immigration deal of all time.
Yeah, right.
650,000 + Kiwis in Australia alone, even Jacinda admits it-so how many others around the World have fled? Why is it so hard for any Kiwi to admit the truth? How many are in Australia that are listed as 457 Visa Temporary workers,or students etc that Aren’t included in the Census?New Zealand is the Venezuela of South Pacific, everyone fleeing the Poverty and Violence but yet Kiwis defend their Homeland and then bag their Host nation?Facts are Facts and the Truth -No matter what spin Jacinda and her media PR Hubby keep telling the World.
Believe me, I am no fan of the horse tooth cow but you have just undermined your own argument with your own “facts”.
Sure, there are problems in Autearoa but to compare it with Venezuela is a complete misnomer.
On the subject of violence, a one Brenton Harrison Tarrant , an Australian import seemingly is the most violent individual on these islands right now. I look forward to deporting him home like the Australian federal government has been exporting their waifs and strays with the slightest connections to New Zealand, back “home”
But hey, keep hating on the sheep shaggers. I am a passport holding British citizen.
I choose to live in New Zealand as I wholeheartedly feel it is the best country in the world.
