Public weighbridges

Is there any Public weighbridges open on a night.
And if not, Is that a defence against a fine for being overweight

Is the load indivisible? or on separate sections/pallets?

Very few IF any,as for being overweight depends on who loaded the motor and who determined the weight to be OK.If its a pre-loaded drop and swap or a sealed trunk trailer then its down to the loading Company
You must have had doubts about the weight,to be asking about night time weighbridges, if your in doubt then taking it out is a NO NO

I see where you’re coming from on this, for the very limited amount of times this is likely to crop up you could use
gov.uk/find-weighbridge

This will give you the relevant opening hours. I’m not sure how often you’re likely to be pulled by DVSA at night, but knowing you’re allowed to do this, and showing you’ve looked for a way to get it weighed would go a long way to covering you I reckon.

Refusing to take it out is fine, especially if you don’t care about the job, but I’d suggest you’d need a decent reason to believe it was overloaded if you wanted to work there again.

It happened to me once, but the nearest weighbridge was literally around the corner at the parent company of the jokers who had loaded the vehicle - which did not go back out with that load on it!

on it!

That fails for me. Put in a Surrey postcode and it takes you to the Surrey website which says "Public weighbridge locations
Please note this list of public weighbridges does not constitute any recommendation.

Surrey
There are currently no public weighbridges in Surrey.

Visit GOV.UK to find your nearest weighbridge"
So circular.

Put in a Hillingdon code and it takes you to a Hillingdon website that is no use at all.

I’m sure it’s a start, but govt not easy [emoji849]

If I needed a weight I would look for a quarry preferably a council one as they rarely charged, scrap yard ,check your tyres , feed mill scrounge a bag of chicken feed ! plenty about if you look, in the tears I’v been driving I thing I only paid twice for a weight both harbours, Peterhead and Aberdeen.
