Get real Rikki, you know I have no concerns over your traffic, the only concern I have is valid users being blocked because of TN’s useless draconian measures!
Or we could be like another website that has decided to ban a valid member with no warning, no mails and who hadnt posted since beginning of September. could it posssibly be because that member is an admin on another website…
Now that what I call draconian
Wouldnt it be hilarious if one of the admins on that website had a similar attitude to draconian measures as some of those posting here
Lucy:
any more than he hears about every air leak and blown bulb,
Your own fault for driving an Iveco I’m afraid
Lucy:
The one thing that I don’t understand is why the hell anyone else cares?
Simply because those who know anything about proxy’s and use them will get round what is trying to be achieved, those who don’t know about them but may very well still be behind one will find themselves unable to use the site - which seems counter productive - stop those you want using the site, and those you want to stop will still be able to - cutting off your nose to spite your face springs to mind.
The fact you publicised it just makes it worse!!!
laughable would be my choice of words stu.
making ones self look a wotsit would be another.
Can I just make it crystal clear here that I[/i] didn’t do anything. I[/i] was away in the truck. And even if I[/i] had been here then it wouldn’t have had anything to do with me since it is no more part of my job than it is part of Rik’s to change my blown bulbs…Which was kind of the point. I was commenting as a passing reader, nothing more. *Beetling off and leaving you all to it again, having remembered precisely why I gave up doing all this stuff…Life’s too short! Ps. Good point about the Iveco, though.

Not actually aware to what you are pertaining to here, but I can hazard a guess, and I always thought you went with a policy of what other sites do is up to them and TN does not get involved - I have not mentioned other sites here, I have purely pointed out what I think is wrong. Not getting hypocritical are you Rikki? This would suggest that you are loosing your argument and looking for other ways out of it!!!

I was it using an example of what could correctly be called a draconian measure, I certainly wouldnt dream of naming the website concerned.
And I dont have to get my way out of anything…
1550 people so far today dont have any problem with the new rules on connecting, so I would say it is pretty much a none issue with the HUGE majority of users of this website…
smcaul:
As pointed out, “Hasn’t become a problem yet”, but quite possibly could if you keep adding to your database of IP addresses.
But apart from that it wont stop the real reason for doing it, which is what was being pointed out.
Be assured we will be monitoring quite closely any impact it has, and if, as you are concerned about, does have a negative impact on traffic and new registrations then it will be reviewed, as any policy changes are. as you say it is early days yet.
bill tams:
just a quick hello from a proxy.
theres another to your list mr big.
how does it work again?
The system will note the IPs connecting, verify them, and if they are anonymous proxies add them to the ban list, its not instant, it depends on when we update.
not a perfect system and I am sure that some will continue to slip through the net. But nothing in life is perfect…
Is that a sticky one like a fondou set but with the sprongy bushy bits you stick in to the red things that dont look like they should be in the bolty bit that should not be there?
