Hi,
I sent off the two forms to DVLA back in September. I have heard nothing. I know DVLA do not have a great reputation but does it always take this long?
A while ago someone posted a link showing how far the DVLA had got with processing. Is anyone familiar with that?
Hi, I sent my forms off around the 22nd Septemeber and had the entitlement added online around the 2nd October. New licence turned up about a week later.
I sent my application off on 7th October and had my provisional Cat C back by 25th October. Had I known at the time that I would have to apply to upgrade it to provisional Cat C+E, then I probably would have waited until after 15th November! [emoji2357] Hopefully it’s just an online/email upgrade and not a case of having to send the physical licence back to the DVLA. [emoji1696]

Here’s the link gov.uk/guidance/dvla-corona … -19-update
It says 13th September. I guess that means absolutely everyone from 12th September back has been dealt with, but many received from 13th September have already been dealt with? Because I sent mine 10th September and it took exactly 2 weeks.
Hope you get yours soon. Have you been checking online if your entitlement has been added? gov.uk/view-driving-licence
Actually, now I don’t think they are processing anymore until after 15th November when you will also get provisional C+E.

Cheers Stu. I hoped it wouldn’t be a send it off job. Seems pointless, as they don’t physically update the actual licence with the provisional entitlements. [emoji106]
I sent my provisional application off recorded delivery in August and got the license back exactly 2 weeks later.
I got my Tacho Card back 3 days after applying online.
And I got my license back 3 days after passing my test.
The only thing I’ve been waiting for is my CPC card since passing my test and the details have been added to the DVLA website today, 10 days after passing test.
Normally after anything has been added or changed on the DVLA website I get something through the post 2 days later.
Maybe check the website and enter your details to check if provisional entitlement has been added…
Is there anything medical that could be causing delays?
Mine was pretty quick in total. 3 weeks to get provisional entitlement, then 4 weeks (1 week after the entitlement appeared) to receive licence. Tacho took 3 days.
My biggest delays have been waiting to get medical and theory done. So far I have been 2 months. I now need to wait until January for my practical training, so 5 months in total.
I sent my provisional application off recorded delivery
I have been under the impression that this was a good thing. However, I’ve recently been told (by DVLA) that they dont sign for these Recorded Deliveries. They are actually signed for at the sorting office. So, as far as I can see, it’s a waste of money.

If You have cat D on Your license and apply for C provisional it falls under “renewal” on linked time frame linked somewhere above.

An automatic response will be received confirming the new entitlements. The online checking system WILL NOT show the new categories. Accordingly, you must print off your original email together with the DVLA response and these must be shown for theory tests, practical training and test.

Don’t know if it helped or not but was surprised to get my license back after only 2 weeks, so I was happy either way.
Still no response from DVLA. Impossible to contact them by phone but have left an email. I only have a regular car driving licence. Such a slow response to a new application is disappointing. I have completed the medical etc.
I can chase this via the Minister provided its a straightforward, correctly completed application. If you’d like me to do this, pm me your details incl Driver number.
Details will only be used to chase application.
