Professional Truck Driving in the UK... yeah right

Well twice last week i have come across some brilliant driving skills, totally professional with the most outstanding observation that is sure to impress and make proud the company that operates these examples… :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
1st one I came accross was a driver in a Blue Volvo Globetrotter, owned I suppose by Future Forwarding, well thats what it said on the tractor & trl, I was heading north on the A1 hursday 21st at around 14.00hrs, all I was loaded with on the low loader trl was a 2 ton “Liner”, Unfortunatley for me I was not in the normal ride ( 164 Topline) but a knackered “S” reg rental Volvo FH380, but still capable of 56mph, well i had seen this truck in my mirrors comming quite quickly, (more than the regulated manafactured speed limiter) he passed me but as I look further than my mirrors & windscreen, I noticed that at the front of the que of trucks approching the r/about was a car learner & JCB 4Trac pulling a trl, so I moved over to the outside lane some 500 yrds b4 the roundabout, went passed everything on the nearside including Future Forwarding, but about 6 mile up the A1 I was indicating to come out, but waiting for some cars to clear or let me out, while I was approching a slower truck doing about 40mph, when all of a sudden, Yes Mr Furture Forwarding shot out , around me and therefore I had to back off and brake, as he went by I looked at the driver aying backin the seat with one foot up, nr the gearstick, I held an upturned hand to him as if to say why ? he just shook his arm, I think he must have been playing a game of Dice the way he shook it, so as soon as it was safe & clear enough to come out behind him I did, then Bugger me he started BRAKING… I just love it when someone knows to remind me to warm my brakes for the next r/about… any way the clever ■■■■ carried on and ignored all the 40mph speed limits i the roadworks, even the 50 mph on the slip road onto the M62, on a bend, on a bridge … well done that Driver… I hope you picked up the MEDAL you was chasing, Ohh by the way if you come on here or know of him, he had 2 GB stickers on the rear doors with the bottom of the stickers cut straight off, and a Pd Lockeren Tank wash truckstop sticker on the right door… I will be on the boat haeding for Germany Tues/Wed, might see you in Lockeren… the other Considerate driver was on Sat on the A14 EastBound, just by the old disused Happy Eaters oppisite each other, about 2 miles b4 the Saxham Turning, where CLAAS HQ is, it was a bulker outfit for BARTRUMS… doing about 47 mph up the slight gradiant, so I passed him with ease as i was doing 56mph, well it was sat afternoon, but as my trl was almost clearing his cab… he speeded up to the point of him pulling up next to my cab, I obviously had to back right off and pull in behind him, for 2 reasons 1st the amount of cars coming up, 2nd as I was in CLAAS painted TRUCK, TRL & Carrying 3 CLAAS tractors, it was obvious I was coming off at the next junction to SAXHAM…obvious to anyone who tramps the A14 where the CLAAS COMBINES come from …and as I pulled in he slowed down to 55mph… thanks mate, but I was going home after tipping… there is a DRIVER SHORTAGE…as there isnt many driving trucks now days…

Sounds like you havin a bad day Dave, what with people speeding and ignoring limits and then you speeding and ignoring limits, i’d say everyones at it!! Relax!!!

I have a question for you guys. Lets suppose you do the same run every day and each day you get passed on the motorway by the vehicles from the same company despite the fact you are correctly doing 56 mph. Would you report them to VOSA?

I also sympathasise with Dave and I find it very annoying when you’re just minding your own business and people to their best to be ‘annoying’.

I was on the M2 last night, rejoining at Jct 4 (Gillingham) headed towards London. As I passed over the motorway to rejoin I noticed a cab unit moving at speed Londonbound. It seemed to be moving faster than 56 mph but I couldn’t be sure. I joined the motorway and was soon cruising at 101 kph (nearly 63mph) but I didn’t catch this guy until well after junction 3. It was a LHD 04 plate Volvo FH16 610. He was easily overtaking other lorries properly doing 56 mph. (Just as a note the top speed of my coach was verified my own 2 GPS units). As we joined the A2 (which is still 3 lanes wide) I decided to knock back the cruise control to 90 km/h indicated (thats about 94 kph on the GPS) and at this speed I was still able to overtake lorries without difficulty. Mister Volvo was catching me up. Climbing uphill to Bluewater having followed me, he decided to overtake. He had at least a 3 kph speed difference and I was doing 94 kph on the GPS. I decided to accelerate after the hill (which I could have climbed at full speed) and passed him again on the A2 just after the M25, but I had to slow again for the 50 mph restriction from Black Prince onwards. He overtook me again.

nope. i would mind my own business and let them get on with it. one day they will get caught and they cant blame anyone else. they know the rules.

as for the first post, very annoying. i always look ahead and if a wagon is obviously going to want out then i will hang back and flash them out. i sometimes flash them before they indicate why? i know ■■■■ well that the driver is watching for a gap and glancing ahead to check his distance. he may be waiting for a gap before indicating so i will flash them out anyway. a bit of courtesy doesnt hurt anyone

Thats spot on. There’s to many drivers about who are not satisfied with driving their own vehicle but want to drive everyone elses as well. Drive one truck at a time i say !!

And spot on again.

Jesus, the cab mounts must have been well shot on on that ‘tractor unit’, were there many sparks from the bottom of the doors and front panel scraping down the road?
