As title really, am pricing a job to Turkey. Never traveled there before, just looking for any info from the experts to hidden costs i might miss. Obviously being outside EU all export/transit costs have been thought of. Just wondering about any local charges that might come and bite me on the behind. Thanks in advance.
try these, no messing about. all your paperwork is sorted under one roof.

you’ll need to decide what route you’re taking.
romainia, bulgaria? you’ll need vignettes. available on the borders. the bulgarian police are dishing out fines for fun.
or italy, then ferry to greece. the mont blanc isn’t cheap. the ferry costs from italy to greece are much cheaper mid week.
thanks for that, use harbor anyway. Jury still out on route as livestock so very limited on ferries that will accept you!
i reckon you’d be better off going via hungary/romania/bulgaria.
there’s plenty of land for learage, and it’ll be cheap.
Thanks for that, will get my head round it and see how we get on. Might be a nice little road trip!
If it’s livestock then you will have to arrange for the animals to be taken off of the trailer and allowed to rest in a field every so often. I’ll check the required periods in my CPC manual when I get home but I believe the longest an animal can be left on a trailer is 24 hours.

Surely that doesn’t apply to hanging.
Thanks guys, its horses or Bloodstock as you tell customs man to make life easy! There are days you wish you could hang them to stop them kicking ten lumps out of the truck! Time rules are slightly different as they are registered so drivers hours biggest issue! What sort of time frame am i looking at to get to Canakkale?

If your going Bg make sure your cards are bang on or you will be paying a fine. They have got particularly vicious lately.

5 or 6 days.
While on holiday in Turkey,i saw many check points, but it seemed it was only cars, motorbikes and vans being stopped all day and all night.
The trucks just carried on normal.

that’s great, they do like to stop foreign trucks and fine them for exceeding 80kph the very least.
Will you be going in on carnet or T1?.
What is the approx value of load?.
Unless you are on carnet Harbour Shipping will only be able to get you as far as BG/TR border. You will then need a MRN number to exit BG. You will then need to find a Turkish agent to get you a T1 to wherever you will clear customs.
There is a high chance you will have to lodge a deposit at the Turkish border %of value of load.
Allow 24-36hrs just to get into Turkey. Then another 24hrs at inland clearance and you won’t be far wrong.
Anymore help please just pm me your number and will do my best to help you.
You have got a Turkish Spedition visa sorted■■?
things are changing with regard to turkey.
What is Common Transit?
The CT procedure is used for the movement of goods between the 27 EU Member States and the EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland). It is based on the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a CT procedure. The rules are effectively identical to those of CT.The convention (as well as the Convention of 20 May 1987 on the simplification of formalities in trade of goods) will be extended on 1 July 2012 to Croatia.
When Croatia accedes to the CT Convention, this will bring the total up to 32 countries.
Turkey will accede to the Convention later in the year.
Stay away from the Turkish omelettes, especially if there’s onions in them .Seriously though Turkey rocks, fantastic people,go & visit a Turkish barber for the closest shave you’ll ever have, enjoy your trip, wish I was going.
I was there a few months ago boat from trieste italy to cesme turkey and drove up past fethyie.
Absolutely no probs what so ever all motorway and new. a few area s they were making them wider.
Becareful as in the towns they just drive all over the place they could be in any lane and also watch out for them herding cows down the middle of the roads
Lots of steep hills etc but i suppose depends where you are going in turkey.
Never no probs from police, locals very friendly, food a lot different but its fine, cheap cigarettes alcohol can be expensive though.
