Sad news, I used to see Al a lot on a motorway bridge where I take pictures and at events all over
the place.

Was Ingrams just for a storage yard at Bamber bridge. ■■? I had a look on Google earth and that yard must be houses now. Was it past the
motorway bridge going away from Preston.■■? It Was 34 years ago.
Thanks John.Perhaps you’re mixing up two different firms, John: there was an animal feeds company in Bamber Bridge called J L (“Jerry”) Ingham, whilst Oswald Ingham was a Manchester-based container haulier who ran orange wagons with red chassis
Re. J.L. Ingham ran a Haulage firm based at Bannister Hall Works Higher Walton he was known as Les, the animal feed was Jerry Ingham same man.
Is this the same Jerry Ingham that was known as Jerry Ingham & Sons of Gregson Lane Hoghton? If so they were taken over by White Tomkins & Courage and incorporated into the Pauls & Whites Group on the merger of R & W Paul and White Tomkins & Courage in the 60’s Jerry Ingham & Sons feed trademark was Hall-Marke.
I do not expect many UK drivers had ever been to Preston Docks as it was mainly contracted work to local based depots and local drivers. Early 1970s I remember NIT Northern Ireland trailers, P&O D&A and Williames flat bed Containers for Irish Peat and not forgetting Isle of Man steamship Ronaldsway ect. I worked for Williames before they contracted out to Woodsides Brothers and IFS Group Northern Ireland who had taken over Williames Airfreight.
Many loads of baled Peat had to be restacked due to nature of product and rough sea crossings.
Many Thanks to Tankerian (Trucknet) found photo Woodsides hauling a Williames Trailer. I suspect the trailer was hauling Williames Groupage and Airfreight.
The reason for the photo of the Hollands Pie Van is it reminds me of Home as I moved to Norfolk over 35 years a go. The frozen Hollands pies are not the same as the matured pies left in chippy for days on end.

Heres one of Richard Parker Haulage, a 140 Scania parked up on Joe Lane Garstang, this shot was taken just before embarking on a trip to Saudi. How many out there remember this company ■■?
Yes I remember this company…
I used to work there in Joe Lane with the company’s auditors in the early 1970’s.
A chap called John Ingle was the owner and there was an associated company called Richard Parker Shipping and I believe it operated between Preston and Ireland.
Happy days!

They used to sub for Pandoro from time-to-time with a Borderer in the same livery, although I think they had moved to Brock by them.
There was also ■■■■ & Geoff Robinson from Hoole, who subbed for Pandoro with a tractor each - here was an earlier motor run by (I think) their father:
Pandoro:
Heading back to Middlesbrough with a 30’ BT box on the back of no.220
L-reg Borderer returned from Larne after it had been thrown over
no.163 when nearly new, and before it was put it on its side getting onto the M55 slip road at Wesham, with a full load of Acrilan (it had a new cab after that, and came back in the new livery with the white doors)

Thanks - it’s actually from the archives of Atkinson Vehicles.
As is this:
My first proper haulage firm job was with Chris Millers when they were taking the rocks down to Liverpool for the
building of the Seaforth Docks. And also loads of weekend work taking bridge sections for the electrification of the
West Coast rail line. Guys like Johnny Carty and Tommy Brindle there at that time among loads of others and also
abnormal load work it was a great job to get experience of all types of haulage. Not forgetting egg trays from Ireland.
Here you are, Josh - an early Mk.2-cabbed Atkinson ‘Silver Knight’ from the Chris Miller fleet. I think the location is Ashworth Grove, Frenchwood, just across the river from the Atkinson factory.
Goodiers the tipper haulier was an old Preston company. Now sold up but I think they still rent trailers out. They ran Maroon coloured Seddon Atkinsons in the last few years of trading.
