Posting pics

Trying to post apic by e mail to forum keep getting invalid address for trucknet
What is the actual format of the address, I’ve tried it many ways and it comes back as invalid, thanks,Jim

You cannot post pictures on Trucknet-UK by email.

Where are you sending the email to

Here’s a thread that explains the easiest way to upload pictures to Trucknet-UK

Sorry for the delay, for some reason I couldn’t find the thread I’ve linked to.

That clears that up then tacho , cheers
I sent to trucknetuk.com

You need an image editor such as Photoshop, there are a few free programs available for download such as Irfanview

Alternatively if you can upload the images to Pixlr.com you can edit the images on-line.

Pixlr advanced editor

Pixlr Express Editor, easiest for adjusting the file size
Open image in Express Editor and click the save button then you have the option to adjust the file size (Lower Image Quality), when saving I would give the image a different name or save it to a different folder so you won’t over-write the original images

I should say I’ve only just found Pixlr and have not tried it with large images, but I just had a little play with a small image and it looks good for adjusting the file size of an image, appears to do a few other thing to.

I’ll be having a better look at that site when I’ve got more time because it looks quite good for doing on-line image editing

multipleimageresizer.net/download.aspx

great tool for resizing pics

They don’t need resizing, the quality will be awful if you do. Get the Tapatalk app for your iPhone and use that to upload direct to the forum.
3mb is a relatively small file size for an image already…

The maximum image file size you can post on Trucknet-UK as an attachment is 2 MB which is a bigger enough file for a forum.

If you want to go over 2 MB you will need to put the image on somewhere like Photobucket and link to it here, but given that a lot of people these days view forums on mobile phones or tablets I would not recommend going over the 2 MB barrier.

For a 2 MB image to be awful the picture would have to be the size of a small English village

Tapatalk sounds good thanks Gixer,I’ll give it a try.
Anybody who says all this computer mularchy is easy didn’t have me to contend with !
Ps is it free?

Tapatalk is £1.99 on Android, I’ve no idea about iPhone.

Tapatalk is good for viewing/posting to forums on your phone, but I don’t see how it’s going to help you to get past the 2 MB barrier for picture attachments on Trucknet-UK

If you don’t want to resize the images you could post them onto an image hosting site such as Photobucket then link to them from TN.

I’ve uploaded tapatalk but I still get invalid attachment when I try to add photo, what am I doing wrong Tacho ?
Be patient with me please I’m thick

You’re not thick mate you’re just not used to posting pictures on TN, plenty of people have had the same problems and got there in the end

To post as attachments the pictures need to be no more than 2 MB each, it doesn’t make any difference what program you use to view or post on TN the pictures will need to be under 2 MB each.

The images posted on TN as attachments can be either JPG, GIF or PNG extension (ImageName.jpg, ImageName.gif or ImageName.png).

Is your Internet connection fast enough to be able to upload the images one at a time to here ?

Hi you lot It’s me again and I’m gonna crack this editing lark today!
I’ve got all my pics from I phone on to laptop and I’m in windows live photo gallery .
I’vee pressed to re size and it gives option to go from 1024 to 800
How does that equate to mb ?
Do I have pics in wrong format? If so I think I can change it
Thanks in anticipation, Jim

The image size does not directly equate to file size and to be honest Windows Live Photo Gallery isn’t the best program to use.

However if you want to use Windows Photo Gallery I suggest you try this first:

  • In Windows Photo Gallery right click on one of the images and select “Resize”.
  • In the Resize options box that opens choose the largest size available which sounds like it’s going to be 1024.
  • Select somewhere on your computer to save the image by clicking on the “Browse” button.
  • Now hit the “Resize and Save” button.
  • Go to where you save the image and from the right click menu select “Properties”, this will show you the file size.

If the file size is bellow 2 MB you should be good to go, if not resize and save to a smaller image size until you find a file size and image size that you’re happy with.
When selecting an image size remember that the larger the file size the longer it will take to upload and the longer it will take other people to view your image, so ideally you really want the smallest file size that also gives the best view of your image, it’s a matter of trial and error I’m afraid.

You haven’t said what format they’re in so there’s no way of knowing, but hopefully they will be in the right format, you can check that when you check the image properties as I’ve described in the list above

Thanks tacho, I actually gave up in windows pictures pretty quick it seems very complex.
When I got to re sizing I lost the whole page.
I at least know the format of my pictures is jpg and that’s good I believe.
I will try another editing site which should be simpler.
At some stage this millennium I may even have a picture to show !!
Thanks again Tacho, Jim.

Finally got there Tacho all I hqd to do was “constrain” the image on my iphone , no editing sites needed or anything else
Thanks for all your help and advice, really appreciate it, no looking back now you’ll be sick of the sight of my pics!
Jim

Sorry forgot the pic !
