Or are about to lose it…I used to drive for a convenience food manufacturer, they’ve now cancelled most of their runs and I’m out of work just 3 weeks after I started. Yay.
Feel for you mate. Hope you get sorted soon. Tbh I’d have thought that foodstuff deliveries would be the last to get hit, although I suppose if it’s niche like pub or restaurant deliveries I kind of get that. I on the other hand deliver frozen tat to all the big supermarkets and am assuming that as long as the lemmings are buying anything on a shelf I’ll be ok.
I’ve lost 2 loads this week so far …
Vast swathes of the leisure industry and gyms etc will be on shutdown shortly, self imposing if not ordered, this is is going to have a huge impact for everyone not employed by the state and almost certain to trigger the overdue and so far artificially held back recession most of us have been expecting.
My wife who’s a driving instructor is starting to get some folks cancelling but me on the other hand who works for a supermarket is is being asked to volunteer for an overtime shift which normally only occurs at Xmas time.
Most of my suppliers are still working and have upped their cleanliness regimes from hourly to every 15 minutes. I in turn have promised to support them as a customer and will be celebrating St Patricks day at 4 pm.
The bar staff need their jobs to pay their house rent, the landlord needs my custom to pay his rent, the dray man needs his job to pay his rent. I am helping the economy in my own way!
My daughter has been told not to go into work for at least 2 weeks, because her little girl has what amounts to a normal type kid’s cough.

Thing is my daughter works in a medical centre as a receptionist, if she was going to catch the virus it would be more than likely to be at work.
Little girl is fine btw, seen her today, the cough is very mild.

Kids seem to show little effects if they have the virus. Your daughter may be infected and not be showing symptoms.
Should she be in a doctor’s surgery interacting (however carefully) with sick and vulnerable patients?

Well that’s it, she ain’t now, she’s now off for 2 weeks.
I ain’t no Doctor, but her little girl is showing no symptoms that look anything more than the kind of cough that kids usually get,.and would not attract the slightest concern in normal circumstances.
But time will tell, and I may be proved wrong.
As said, this thing has people running (too) scared and far too over cautious.

I do see what you’re saying, but those vulnerable people in the doctors waiting room may well prefer the more cautious attitude.

Sad times indeed.
I had to me atleast a brilliant job secured to start last month, then at the 11th it got withdrawn. Destroyed, especially as my kids were proper proud I’d got a go again, that’s the worst part for me [emoji20]
Luckily the firm very kindly gave me a letter explaining it wasn’t anything to do with myself though, although I still wonder how true that is… [emoji38] so I took a bit of snowflake from that.
Seems there are plenty of very experienced guys being dropped too, it really says to me that we all need to have a serious change as a planet.
ETS, If you/anyone else is interested culina are recruiting, not sure if there’s any near you but thought I’d mention it.
There’s good old stobbys too, but I sense you’ll probably be swerving that one…[emoji16]
