POLL: Who do you intend to vote for?

As a benchmark, in the whole of 2023 the total donations given to all parties was less than £94 million.
Quote:
"UK elections remain at risk from interference by hostile states after the government voted down a move to close loopholes on foreign donations to parties, campaigners have warned.

The chair of parliament’s security committee was among those who backed an amendment to the national security bill that would have obliged political parties to carry out due diligence on the true source of donations from companies and individuals.

The amendment was sponsored by three members of the House of Lords including the former director general of MI5, Jonathan Evans."

If the heart and soul of our country is bought out by corporate America we’re all doomed. We’ve been sleepwalking into this for years with our indiscriminate absorbing of US corporation culture, practices and weasel language. Aye, we’re doomed; doomed!

I would like to see ideally, all donations, to all parties, from all companies, and all individuals, stopped, totally.

Political parties should all be funded by the state through taxes.
There should be a threshold of support needed but, once reached parties get a basic amount.
When voters go the the polling booths they put an X in the box for whoever they like and another X to decide who gets extra funds.

MPs should all be paid more, but should be prohibited from taking money and gifts from almost everywhere else.
No other paid jobs, nor consultancies, lobbying etc.

Edit to add:
There is of course currently all sorts of indirect as well as direct payment to MPs.
Lee Anderson is on record as saying when he was still withe Tories, that he was offered a job if he defected to RefUK Ltd.
He declined any bribe of course. He is now a presenter on GBN as well as an MP,. He took up that job whilst still a Tory MP. (GBN is a “news” outlet that is loss making and is funded from overseas)
The recent RefUK Ltd new member, Andrea Jenkyns, has also said she was offered a bribe of an £80 grand job if she defected to RefUK Ltd.

What ALL parties in the running?

I alteady begrudge a lot of my taxes going towards many things now, never mind funding a load of lame duck parties who stand no chance.

Would you have objected if Musk had (bizzarelly) aimed his backing to the Lib Dems?.. or is it just parties you disapprove of that get generous donations that you dont like thinking about.

At least it is going (or maybe isnt after all) to a relatively new and up and coming party who are constantly gaining a lot of favour,.and who are mostly on the same page of a vast number of the populaton.

Anybody who can scupper the plans of the not fit for purpose 2 mainstream parties who most of the population is heart sick of, is fine by me, …and especially more so if it stops this present pathetic woke pc lefty culture, and attitude, a ‘cancer’ that is presently ruining our country.

As for MPs being paid MORE ? :flushed:
I aint going to dignify that ridiculous stupid comment by even answering it.

As for your beratement of GBN…at least they say it as it actually is…
But we all know and accept that you have difficulty with anything other than the official narrative, and constantly feel the need to rubbish anything that isnt.

typical labour hypocrisy someone gets a job and they want to investigate it despite all the scandal not a few months back

All of what scandal?
The confected outrage when Sue Grey took a job within the rules of transferring from the Civil Service?
The job Johnson took with GBN?
The job that Cameron took lobbying for Greensill?

Yes.
So long as a party can raise ?maybe 100,000? signatures, then they get a basic grant from the State.
Come election time they get more of they get lots of Xs.

It sounds like you are the one who wants to ban or outlaw political views different from your own.

So would the minimum wage attract an honourable, intelligent, and competent person to a position of responsibility and power?

Should only the already rich, with no need to feed their family be given seats?
Or guess what? Maybe those who want to make laws that suit their business plans?
Or the plans of their sponsors and supporters.

Where exactly did I say I wanted to BAN anything exactly?..
That is more your lot’s form of action on things…report it and get it banned…

But hey, it makes for a much better impact in an argument when you make things up eh? .

By the same token…who (apart from you) mentioned ‘minimum wage’…(see my last comment.)

And wtf are you actually slavering about in your last paragraph exactly?
All I meant was (which was obvious to everyone else ) is that MPs get paid enough, especially when you go on to add all their ‘legal scams’ or ‘expenses’ as they prefer to call them.

Look mate, we get it that you think you know it all when it comes to politics, but if you want to make a sensible argument, stick to what I actually said, not what you had wished I had said to enable you to come up with a smart arse answer.

You described “lefty woke culture” as “a cancer”.
I would like to see the end of cancers.

There are political parties that I disagree with, and political parties that I strongly disagree with. I don’t recall likening any of them to cancer.
I leave such OTT comments to our resident drama queens.

i can understand your confusion there has been so many since june but i was referring to lord alli jess sargeant and ian corfield who all got perks/jobs worth far more than 80k a year

btw johnson took the job with gbn was around oct 2023 over a year after he resigned. cameron joined greebsill aprox 2 years after he resigned. or is it your view that once a pm leaves office he should never work again.

Some jobs should be forbidden to all ex MPs.
Political campaigning within Parliament being one of them.
There should be more separation between politics and business.

If Cameron or any other ex-MP wants to sit on a board, or help the sick as a Dr, or write books or appear on TV…fine. But not lobbying.

No you wouldn’t would you…, because your type of politics is what I refer to…as you well know.

The country would be a far better place if we were not virtually forced to pander to people like you and your pathetic pi55 poor style of politics which holds back progress.

I stand by my description,.and as usual do not give a flying one what you or your type, do, or do not, think about it…or ME for that matter.
In fact I would be disappointed if it DIDN’T offend you.

so your objection to johnson joining the news channel was just objection because its him?

personally i would rather an ex mp or pm being a consultant to the gov than some nobody that has never been elected getting a top job because he donated a few grand a year or some other random so called expert that all they have done is interpret a csv file (wrongly btw) advising the gov

Yes he’s got a slight bee in his bonnet over Boris Johnson. :joy:

Bless you. You really do walk round in your own little bubble don’t you.

ill just leave this here … only listened to the first five minuets as iits late and a turn into a gumpy so and so if i dont get my 8 hours but a quick google for the article being discussed and its there.

sheds a lot of light on his current polices

this is weird it shows the video in the preview but doesnt post the video

Pathetic innit.
The guy who had a nose for scandal in the last few years, a specialist in sniffing it out and reporting it on here like some kind of political correspondent news hound.

Then the Tories go, Labour come in,…a party abundant with sleaze and scandal…
What do we get off him?
Zilch, nada, nowt, f.all.

Amazing how he’s suddenlly gone ‘nose blind’ and comes out with stuff like that without a hint of irony.:joy:

So now we are full to the gunells with economic migrants, criminals, rapi5t5 and potential terrorists posing as refugees.
So then an actual war breaks out, and people that actually are refugees…no room for them as genuine asylum seekers.

Point is this country is daft enough to take the ones who have already gone through x no of countries to get to France, then here.
We are a small island ffs…we have got more than enough.

And that is exactly what is wrong.
Politicians especially PMs are good at politics. They mostly have no other expertise.
They need to take advice from experts when in power, because they have no specialist skills outside winning votes.

Cameron was not offering expert advice , he was lobbying for his employer and for his own betterment through his shareholdings.

It was not illegal, but that is because, IMHO. the laws are wrong.

@franglais Being serious here do you have a background in statistics, or been a statistician?

reason i ask is if i gave you a list of raw data that all you had to do was open it in a spreadsheet program to get it in table format would you be able to draw a conclusion from it. Im betting you could… im betting anyone given the skill to open the document could…

so answer me this if you will… why in the name of all that is holly did the gov pay someone over 100k to analyze data from one of thier own departments (dvla in this case) that was in a readily accessible format??

That is what i object to.
