I thought the Rwanda scheme included the removal of failed spongers? Starmer stormed in like a tornado, immediately scrapped the Rwanda scheme and now has this plan, what could possibly go wrong?
Labour rejected the Rwanda plan once they were in power, not because it was a bad scheme, but rather petulantly because the Tories thought of it.
Critics whined that the Rwanda plan would cost a gazillion pound per person whilst wilfully missing the point that one, two or even three successive flights would see an almost total cessation of the small boats, ergo no gazillion pounds being spent.
Once they tried to get the first flight off the runway (ultimately foiled by do gooder lawyers who’d never dream of taking an illegal into their homes) there was a massive increase in illegals landing in Southern Ireland.
Kinda says it all really as a deterrent doesn’t it?

the rwanda scheem would of worked out cheaper per illegal than housing them but because brain of britain yevette cooper said it would be a gazillion per migrant it must be true.
no one has noticed though that so far starmer has given 200 million more to the french than what the rwanda scheem would of cost

That should please certain people here. Unless I woefully underestimate the lethal range of “energy weapons” they are hardly suitable for say protecting a frigate from enemy planes or missiles. If I understand correctly they are lasers for blinding people, heat rays for making people’s skin painful and crawl, and sonic weapons to deafen people.
i.e. all anti personnel weapons used at relatively close quarters. Hence more useful in say repelling pirates then stopping boris and vlad in a destroyer. Whether the French will allow British ships to use the weapons or not, doubtful. Dunno if Dennis or others more knowledgeable on naval affairs knows more…
