Political discussions...

Labour…Mike Amesbury…22,358 votes…52.9%

Reform UK Ltd…Jason Moorcroft…7,662 votes…18.1%

I wouldn’t describe that in any way “a small number of votes”.

No Franglais I don’t suppose you would, maybe I should have took 10 mins out of my life to do some stringent research to prove my point, just to ‘keep things right and squared off’, far be it for me to make a sweeping statement.
We’ll see what comes of the by election though eh.

You have changed your tune on GBN I note…one occasion of seeing things with your own eyes, followed by an implication that you could be wrong?..whatever next?

Anyhoo…just seen the full footage on the tv this morning, following on throwing punches repeatedly when a guy is on the deck is a big no no, one punch defending himself, or retaliation to a load of mouth is summet else.
He aint done himself any favours.

Main point is that Reform came second in that constituency. When a by election is held (which it should be) it will be interesting to see how that one goes. With the budget imminent, there’s more trouble ahead.

How so?
I have said that they are unreliable on facts, and biased in their programming.
I have never said that everything they say is wrong.
As I asked above who says the victim is one of Amesbury’s constituents? He may well be so, but it looks like a guess masquerading as a known fact, in order to spin the story. To spin a story that needs no spin IMHO.

Mind you when GBN say that two plus two make four, I do check up on them.

You may well be right. Whatever you call it, the effect is more dramatic when there has been inflation with prices and wages rising.

It seems instead of austerity now it is high taxes.

For all I know it is needed (don’t have all the information), but it is effectively a tax rise, so I don’t want the wool pulled over my eyes by ministers saying there is no tax rise.

Jeez…Let it go man…I got it wrong.
I have already admitted it, do you want me to keep admitting it to massage your ego in always thinking you are right or what?
Ok…I WAS WRONG.
Write it down for your record book.

Qualifications required to be an MP: --blank space--.

Not really a surprise that a few will fall foul of the law.

Mind you John Prescott got away with a punch I seem to remember. Precedent set?

Parties in power lose out in by-elections true enough.

To loose that margin would be a very big swing indeed.
Even in 2019 when there was a nati0nal swing away from Labour under Corbyn, Labour had more votes than Cons and Brexit Party combined. However it is not impossible to see it happening.

In that case Prescott was hit by an egg, he threw one punch, and was then restrained.
Looks quite a bit different here.

Although an egg is not normally a lethal weapon () I can see that a reaction is likely instinctive.

I have just watched it on what looks like CCTV footage. Yes, he was the aggressor. Bang to rights. Considering that it was a hard floor, it could have been much worse.

Speaking of violence…a random question.

What would you do if someone slapped you?
ref; discussion and question you ignored.

Just to cover every inevitable base from you…
No I aint feeling left out.
No I aint a princess.
Yes I understand you dont have to answer.
No I aint clutching my pearls…or anything else for that matter.
Cheers.

You can get done for assault by beating with a banana milk shake. Nigel knows all about that.

What exactly do you mean by “slap”?

But without dancing around that too much, if assaulted I would probably report it to the Police.
Maybe not, depending on the exact circumstances, but probably report it.

You tell me.
It was you who mentioned ‘a slap in the face’ in your pacifist appeasement based post refuting violence stops violence.
Then went on in the SAME breath about using a gun.

So basically you would not retaliate, but rather report it to the Police…good luck with them following that one up btw.

Were you bullied at school by any chance?
Which in fact would explain a hell of a lot tbh.

Yes. Very probably report to the police.
I would take necessary steps to defend myself, but retaliate? No.

Surely defending yourself, ie…fighting back, or using violence against violence IS just that…defending yourself.
Or are we talking throwing yourself on the ground rolled up in a ball.

You said retaliation. That is not defence.

It all depends on the exact circumstances, but in most cases, I would do what is necessary at the time, and most probably report the assault to the Police.

But this getting bogged down in definitions of words and what would/wouldn’t happen in different cases etc. so I will repeat report assault to Police.

It’s you who is getting bogged down with definitions …and pedantry.
By retaliating you are defending yourself, ir…using violence against violence,.which you say does not work.
Otherwise you are letting yourself be hit…ie not defending yourself.
It aint complicated.

A few? You mean the UK judiciary? Another conviction to add to TR/SYL’s list, what a hero…

No doubt he’ll have plenty sucking up to him inside, although there will be others who will enjoy squaring up to see how hard he thinks he is

On reflection, when push comes to shove I suspect he’s not such a hard man after all, his Barrister, Sasha Wass KC, (by God I bet she’s expensive! Check out her profile on Wikipedia ) said he was:

“such a controversial figure he may be placed in solitary confinement by prison governors, as had occurred the last time he had been jailed, and there was medical evidence he had previously suffered trauma, panic attacks and nightmares.”
