Nothing to do with any babblefish.FPTP just means the party with the most ‘votes’ forms the government benches.
It doesn’t mean 411 government bench ‘seats’ for less than 10 million votes v 5 opposition bench seats for over 4 million votes.Thats a bent mandate.
In this case it’s a minority government v a Conservative and Reform majority opposition.
If there is no direct correlation between votes and seats providing way more seats for the number of votes for some and vice versa for others then it’s obviously a bent mandate. In this case obviously Labour/LibDem/Green v Reform and Conservative.
No it doesn’t even do that.
In 1974 (February)
Tories had 39.7% of the votes and won 297 seats.
Labour had 39.2% of the votes and won 301 seats.
Similar in 1951 too, except then Labour had more of the popular vote but the Tories had 26 more seats.
Franglais …Before you start your absolute predictable sneering, and inevitable rubbishing of the situation, the party, and the individuals involved, lets just wait and see if it does not succeed in getting things done, or at the very least, prompt those responsible to speed the process up…as it should have been done by now.
I know in your delicate lefty world of ignoring uneasy situations, you would just rather they done the far end of f/all about it, (as virtually done so far) but not everybody shares your pathetic pacifying, and appeasing limp wristed views.
So let’s just wait and see before condemning anybody and their actions.
Not even Reuters can deny the direct contrast between Starmer and his ‘far right’ b/s, in the context of if it had been Darren and Lee who were white working class, maybe with shaven heads, instead of Ali and Raschid who were Arabic Moslems with beards, that they would have been fast tracked to jail before you could say… ‘Twotiersystem’.
But hey lets just keep ignoring and denying the glaringly obvious eh?
And to add just like I was saying, if the action riles you, and the likes of you, that is a bonus which is fine for me .
To get back to voting, and reasons why I would vote for a particular party…
By tge same token it is reasons and policies like THIS which is the reason I would never vote for pathetic sorry arsed parties such as this.
2 million put aside for this while our old people are robbed by a similar pi55 poor party.
You could not make this up, or imagine the mentality of people who can see nothing wrong with THIS.
Yes, cases should all get to court quicker.
But cases should not get to court quicker because some politicians interfere in the Judicial process. Maybe you would be happy if the Greens interfered and got oil protesters cases put on hold for years?
Dunno about you but I would be upset if criminals used the actions of politicians etc to find a loophole and get off.
Look mate I would never expect you with your dubious views to see any good in this.
Politicians interfering with with the judicial system?..seriously?
It’s because Starmer interfered with the system in the first place, with his famous 2 tier, one rule for anybody who does not share his views (laughingly aka Far Right.) and one rule for anybody non indigenous.
At the risk of repeating myself, the fact that you ridicule it, tells me their is some possible merit in it.
So to refer what I said before, lets just wait…and see, if nothing good comes of it, at least they tried, at least they showed they were not out of touch with realist and right thinking people…not including you obvs.
In the meantime just calm yourself down and stop getting so agitated about it all, and let circumstances take their course.
Just to add…you mention you getting upset.
Thing is mate you get ‘upset’ over all the wrong things.
OK then. Whatever.
Starmer is the PM, and has the Home Secretary and the Judicial system in his remit. He is part of the system.
Ordinary MPs are not part of the system.
So who (apart from you of course) is to say that WILL happen eh ?
An action that fails is better than no action at all.
But that will not compute with you given the subject matter and your dubious views.
Thanks for explaining and clarifying the last point btw.
I as a mere mortal bow to your superior knowledge on these matters.
Now show us any examples when any party got only 5 seats for over 4 million votes v 411 seats for less than 10 million votes.
Tell us more about the definition of a minority government like the Callaghan administration and how that situation arises.
Yeah, you keep telling us that.
Oh good…at least you have appeared to have grasped it anyway…but I’ll keep reminding you in case you forget eh?
In the RefUK Ltd press meeting, Farage was asked about his previous claim about security and him having no surgeries.
Asked whether he or the Speaker’s Office was lying, he replied that the Speaker’s Office was always right.
Poor effort for you mate compared to your usual epic and legendary character assasination and muck raking skills on people you don’t like.
I’d rate it at 4 out of 10/could do better with a ‘See Me’ attachment.
You’ve let yourself down, you’ve let Trucknet down, and you’ve let the Lib Dems down.
Odd, they managed to get the rioters from the Southport incident and that silly woman who posted on FB banged up within a matter of days. Yet they have video evidence of a physical attack on numerous police officers and no conviction nearly 3 months later. I’m no legal expert but I would assume that is irrefutable evidence. I wonder what the hold up could be between those currently behind bars and those who should be?
I too am not a legal expert, but I do know that not all videos seen on the www are accurate.
Those in court for offences in the riots etc who have been sentenced were all guilty pleas I believe, but I could be wrong on that. Those in the video are known, and have been charged. Things are going on at the currently normal speed it appears.
But I reckon that the courts could easily get rid of the current queues. Show a short clip of summat and bang the buggers up straight away. Why waste time with things like hearing both sides of a story?
Or better still disinter Judge Jefferies and we won’t need worry about over-crowded prisons either.
Seriously mate, do you just argue and disagree for the sake of it?
Those scumbags should be in jail by now for what they did and you damn well know it. They should consider themselves lucky that’s the only place they could potentially be, in many many countries they would be in body bags had they attacked armed police in an airport.
I put down mostly what I think but find it quite credible that others think differently.
When the first video came out of the Police kicking a bloke on the ground in the face many said that the cops were obviously in the wrong and should be jailed immediately.
Having seen the second video we know there is more to the story.
But it is just as wrong to judge on the second video, as it is to judge on the first video.
We do not know what happened before it nor anything else.
It is difficult to imagine what did happen first, to justify the actions seen, but that is not to say such is impossible.
I think all evidence should be gathered by Police and others.
That takes time but I have confidence that the Police will do so. Given more Police and better resources that would happen quicker, but we are where we are.
I don’t want politicians interfering in day-to-day operational matters.
Re the riots: extra funds were given to the Police and courts to fast track possible offenders and so make others think twice. In an ideal world those levels of funding would be available for all cases. But it is not an ideal world.
And I am very glad that we don’t have cops who fire too readily, and that we have a system where the Police are free to gather evidence and so present a case that is as strong as possible, and that accused also get to be heard in any defence they might have.
Seems the name doing the rounds for the PM is now Queer Starmer.
