  Shall have a go this weekend.

Dont forget, if your using wet & dry sandpaper or brillo pads, use plenty of water - PLENTY OF WATER!

get a polish immigrant.
get it? “Polish”. ok that was crap.

get some wire wool from a plumbers merchants, and plenty of washing up liquid.

Thanks every one

Forget Brillo pads they will only scratch the tank, forget PEEK, its useless, Alibrite to start with, then autosol, then once its semi shiny, u want to use either Meguairs(think i spelt it rite■■?) or some stuff called “BRILLIANT” do a web search for BRILLIANT alloy polish, they are based in chelmsford in essex and so mail order too! But be prepared for alot of hard work!

Autosol will not make it like a mirror as it has too much of a cutting element in it! Brillian or Meguairs are the only 2 i’ve found that will do the job!
I started mine on day 1, ok so its an 09 but tank was as it leaves the factory and it now looks like this!

i just got my hands on some white diamond polish £14 a bottle thou but wen the tank is shiny its brilliant stuff i could only find it at one place thou

What place was that?

You can take them off with some latches on the back

Started on one side.Turns out only the rails by the batteries have latches.I scrubbed it with alloy wheel cleaner first then i t-cut the bit im doing. Now im using the autosole. Its not doing much though, shiny but not shiny if you know what i mean?

Well it works for me!

The thing about brillo pads is to make sure you throw it away once most of the soap is gone from it and use a new one. A tank will tank probably 10 pads to get it something decent to start polishing. Also, the aluminium is pressed in such a way that it has a kind of grain to it. Follow the grain and it won’t scratch, and it also won’t leave bits in the alloy. Anything that is left on there will wash off easily enough and then almost any good polish will finish it well.

If you can find the marine polish then it leaves a hard shell which will see you through much of the winter. Not sure what you can get over there anymore but it is available all over out here.
