I have just passed my class 2. Think i have got driving hours understood but still a bit confused.com. I leave the yard and arrive at the clients address 20 mins later. Once there im told it will be an hour. So i turn the engine off and put it on to POA. After 45mins they say its ready so i back on the bay and switch the engine off. As im not loading the lorry do i put it back on POA or OTHER WORK. All advice welcome cheers.
When you moved it, it would go back to other work. Leave it on that for now I’d guess

If you know how long you will be on the bay you can use POA if you want to, or you could put the tachograph on other work or break.
Your choice really
Don’t forget if you put it on poa for 45 mins it will reset your driving hours so bear that in mind
Personally myself I don’t use poa but why not put it on break for let’s say 15 or 30 mins and that’ll cover you for a while and then you’ll only need 30 mins a bit later.
Dose other work not cut into my driving time tho.?

No, driving time is only when you are actually driving, basically when the wheels are turning, other work is any time that you’re working but not driving.
So basicly 2 days 1 at the beging and 1 at the end of the week i can have 4hours of other work and 3 day in the middle can have 5hours.Then im not cutting into regulated rest periods.

It could be me being thick but I can’t make head nor tail of what you’re trying to say in that previous post
lets say on a monday i can do 9 hours driving with a 45 min break and 3hours otherwork that leaves 11 hours daily rest period in 24 hrs
then tues/wed/thu i can do 9 hours driving with a 45 min break and 5 hours otherwork that leaves 9 hours reduced rest in 24 hrs
and friday the same as monday

you are making it very difficult for yourself working it out like that, imho.
Monday 9+3 +.75 = 12.75 leaves 13.25 rest period
Tue 9+5 +.75 =14.75 leaves 9.25 rest period
Weds 9+5 +.75 =14.75 leaves 9.25 rest period
Thurs 9+5 +.75 =14.75 leaves 9.25 rest period
Fri 9+3 +.75 = 12.75 leaves 13.25 rest period
Totally correct. If the digital times confuse you. Then convert them to imperial time
0.25 is 15minutes
0.50 is 30minutes
0.75 is 45 minutes
I am on the right lines tho.

As far as daily rest periods are concerned that’s fine but in that example you actually worked a total 66 hours working time (working time = driving & other work).
You would need to book a bit more break or POA to bring the working time down to 60 hours, 60 hours working time per week being the most that’s legal.
Break and POA don’t count towards working time so using them you could hopefully reduced the working time to what’s allowed
THANKYOU
