In a drivers waiting room the other day (listening to the stories) when Poa cropped up. One driver said when you book Poa it pushes the WTD time back. Example start 4am, I assumed you would book POA at 10am to cover the WTD, other driver said if you booked 1.30hr Poa you wouldnt need to start to book any rest till 11.30am?
Ive just changed job so previously never needed to book any poa.

POA doesn’t count as working time, so if you started at 04:00 and booked POA from say 06:00 to 07:30 you would need to have a 15 minute break no later than 11:30, or a 45 minute break when you completed 4½ hours driving, whichever comes first.

I don’t know why you think you would book POA at 10:00, I assume you mean break not POA.

So in the above example, the 6 hour wtd isn’t reset at 7:30 (as poa was longer than the minimum break period of 15 mins)?
It doesn’t matter how long the POA is it doesn’t count as working time, so in the example above the end of the 6 hour period is put back to 11:30 because of the 1½ hours POA.
Be aware though that the digital tachograph does wrongly count POA as break and will reset the driving time on the display if the total POA is 45 minutes or more.
Also them that say don’t bother with poa put it on break just watch cause you’ll shove it on break then will have to have another 45 rather than half hour later …as Tacho says poa is not work but still counts as duty time
