Please help with route and toll info to austria

26 ton rigid heading to Liechtenstein.
This is a one off trip for us and any help would be thoroughly appreciated, thinking of running through france down to Metz and then Strasbourg and across to Stuttgart and down thus at least avoiding the Belgian toll box, would this be a good route and whats the current situation with tolls in Germany and Austria, im told you can still pay in advance at the machines at the side of the road for Germany, is this correct? and as for Austria i believe you need a go box, are these available with for a one off trip like Belgian system?

If going via Strasbourg, forget Stuttgart and take the scenic route through the Black Forest and along Lake Constance:

Strasbourg - Offenburg - Villingen Schwenningen - Friedrichshafen - Bregenz (A)

This will save you a tidy sum on the German toll and present the opportunity to purchase more cuckoo clocks than you can shake a stick at

toll-collect.de/en Tickets from machines en route. Ticket must be booked before entering the German motorway network. Use the “locate toll station” gizmo on the web site.
If the machine wants to send you a different route (which it will do to maximise their income) just add way points until you get the route that you want.

many thanks indeed
