My first answer wasn’t entirely correct.
It’s actually to wrap a few layers over the number plate to make it difficult to identify the vehicle when filmed by a dash cam warrior as it overtakes a dawdler on a roundabout. True story.
That got debunked on Mythbusters, nothing works to disguise the number plate from speed cameras
Yep, I saw that episode, yet people still spend money on these gizmos. It’s not entirely true to say nothing works to disguise the number from speed cameras, a couple of strips of Gaffa Tape while not subtle would work a treat.

Can you confirm this?
If not, it’s a rumour, and could damage the reputation of the firm concerned. If so, you’ve broken your own forum rules and your post must be deleted .
As everyone knows it wouldn’t work and I was talking ■■■■■■■■ it’s clearly not true. Chill, it was a joke.

I think you mean, at worse, upto £1000 fine! been there, done for that along with no licence, the fine for the mucky number plate was double the no licence fine , and that was 30 odd years ago.
