Pimbo M58

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the eastbound side of the M58, by pimbo
is getting to the point where its like a speed bump??
won’t be long before it causes an accident…■■
“Started to pull into the middle lane now when i go past there”

It’s a ‘Great Escape’ tunnel for the ■■■■■■■■■ getting out of Skem undetected!!

Yeah I’ve noticed, its bloody murder!

I hit this the other day, and bottomed the air seat out jarring my back… FFS :frowning: been sore since!

B…

Thats the ‘Pimbo Pop’

I hit it at 55mph a couple of weeks ago & it nearly ‘Popped’ my cupboards open.
Glad I didn’t have load of Ming Vases or Eggs on board ! LOL.

Great!
Got a load of solar panels on board in morning, some going aintree,
some wigan and i think i gotta haul panels on both sides !!!

Looks like i best get some super glue on way into work!

Or minging eggs for that matter.

Like it did a few years ago :open_mouth:

It’s been there for a good few years that, I’m sure they closed off the junction a few months ago to try and flatten it, attempts must of failed, but I have to go over the ■■■■■■ everyday as I live in skem :frowning:!!

I was told by a customer in Pimbo that it’s caused by subsidence due to an old coal mine. No matter how much they fill it, the problem always comes back a few months later. If traffic allowed, I used to take to Lane 2 for a few hundred yards- it doesn’t seem so bad there, probably because not so many heavies use it.

Seems like a good enough reason mate, maybe they should change the layout so it’s down to two lanes at that section, because its caused a lot of accidents in the past and sure will cause a good few more in the future

Councillor David Sudworth wrote to Highways Agency Chief Executive Graham Dalton over a mystery hump which goes across two lanes of the motorway close to Junction 5 at Pimbo and Up Holland.

Mr Dalton responded saying that investigation work is planned for early 2012 with a view to reconstructing the carriageway in 2012/13.

The hump is on the eastbound side towards Orrell and has puzzled highways chiefs, and local drivers, for some time.

The Highways Agency need to understand what has caused the hump.“It would be preferable to have this part of the motorway smoothed out if this is possible from an engineering point of view as the M58 is an important route from West Lancashire into Wigan and the wider national motorway network.”
