I rate the trucks purely from a drivers point of view. Service back up is of little concequence to me in real terms, i just make a phone call! My old MAN over three years and over 400,000 miles may have had a clutch/engine/turbo whatever and i would have known nothing of it, they just get sorted. That said the mechanics prefer the Volvo!
I just gotta drive it and live in it, whilst the MAN is a bigger cab the Volvo wins for me, its a better place to be.
As for driving them, they are much of a muchness, the new MAN that i had was a lovely drive, as is the Volvo!
2 of us were asked to swap for a week to make a comparison and the lad i swapped with preffered the MAN, whereas i prefered the Volvo.
So we swapped!!! The Volvo is smaller but i just prefer it, the interior is amazing! Off to town in a min to buy a flat screen TV/DVD to bot opposite the Swivel seat!
Strorage is OK, the lockers are smaller but the under bunk storage is huge!!!

Both excellent trucks!
I have always took an interest in the “cost” of the operation, you never know when you may need that “inside” knowledge
Saves coming on here, and, asking where you can buy a “Scania GTXL Mega Nuttz” 1000V900, because I`ve just got a contract to Nigeria, then wondering why the PISH gets taken
And, believe or not, SOME grease monkey`s may even appreciate your input
I’ve had both the MAN and the Volvo, I definitely prefered the MAN , a lot more room and no messing about with ad blue, the i shift box in the Volvo is a lot better to use though.

Is that a new motor for you JD? looks a nice machine.
its ok nothing special nothing to get excited about. the best bit of it is that ts pulls unbelievably well. going up rochester bank on the a(m)2 my daf 480 was down to 25mph with 29 ton box on this truck flies up at 45mph.

Don’t pull anywhere near that weight JD, but I found that the 430 MAN was far superior in pulling power to the 440 Volvo I have, quite a difference in journey times.
