Photos of Scorpio International ERF

hello, I’m a newcomer to the forum and I am looking for any old photos of Scorpio International ERF’s. My grand-dad drove for them out of Alloa in the 1980s and I would like to show my son whose getting right into lorries, what his great-grand-dad drove

thanx in advance

Al

Hi best place for you to try would be, Boballoa, on Public. Fotki.com, there is certainly a D A F on it, and lots of lorry photos. Les.

Thank-you Les I will have alook.

They had a depot on the Euroway Estate at Bradford my brother did a bit for them in the 80’s they ran black ERFs and Marathons

I have asked on a fairly active United Carriers thread and they seem quite short on Scorpio pictures. A neighbour has just got an Atlas Express body in his yard, don’t know where they are digging those up from. :stuck_out_tongue:

Did Scorpio carry cashmere and the likes? As the name seems familiar

Sorry for the late reply Jimbo Ive been really busy at work.

As far as I remember it was all hanging garments cashmere included quite high end stuff. The Alloa Scorpio branch was behind Jaeger, a garment manufactuere. Clacks used to have a lot of knitwere and texttiles but sadly all gone now

Hi Les, i really apreciate your taking the time to find and post these. very very kind thank you. My wee boy is really pleased

Aye thought so , the name struck me as one I knew. iirc one caught fire north o Lockerbie 85 ish , driver an unit ok but trailer had cashmere on for a show in London all wrote off smoke damage , taken by skip to landfill , never seen so many folk in town wearing cashmere jumpers. My old fella rip was the jcb operator loading the skip trucks ,the on scene assessor told him to take a bucket o boxes back to the yrd as a thank you , as long as they didn’t sell them

great story Jimbo- I think my dear old granddad and your dad would have got on just great. different time then, miss those old days and then some.

I worked for Scorpio International from 87-89 out of their Hayes, Middlesex depot.
Did my class 1 in 89 and moved on shortly afterwards.
I remember as an 18 year old trying to navigate the big snow storm of 87 in a Ford Custom for them.
Great bunch of lads, I really enjoyed my time there and have many good memories.

Not sure why the pictures are upside down but hopefully you can still see them.
