Phone/pda recommendations?

I’ve got the option to upgrade my phone in the near future & was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a phone/pda which was capable of providing a routefinder as well as normal phone facilities,

I have got an O2 XDA 2i. You can get Tom Tom for it, and it has loads of PDA functions.

Can’t fault it yet, although I have only had it 2 months.

Although I haven’t made the plunge for Sat Nav yet, I prefer a good old fashioned map !!

if you can go for the xda exec or the 2s it has less problems than the 2i

Think I am one of the lucky ones who has a stable 2i, but have heard horror stories about them being flakey!!!, I run TT3 and lots of other junk on it and it’s not too bad.

I know its not a PDA, But for just a standard phone I’ve just got a Sony ericsson K750i after a recomendation on here and so far can’t fault it its absoulutly brill!

i have the w800i next one up from k750i
does not have gps cablablitis although any nokia with symibian tech on it can get tom tom however the XDA sries is the best for the things you want although some pdas have phone caplabilaties i am not sure witch ones or how good these are

yep i`ve got one of those too… beat nokia by a mile i reckon

750i rocks especially the camera :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

i have a p900, which is a good compromise between a pda and a mobile.

take a look at the hp hw6510/15. phone/pda running windows with built in gps, all you need to buy is the mapping software.

Thanks for responses.
The K750i is one I can get a free upgrade to but is it capable of supporting a routefinder & is it useable? - I’m still leaning towards a PDA simply because of the extra screen size.

when my 12month contract was due for renewal, i asked how much it would cost to get th p900. they said that it would cost £140 ! i waited 2 months, ringing them almost weekly, eventually got it for £5 !
once you know what you want, keep asking them until they let you have it.

As far as i’m aware the 750i isnt a full smart phone cant run satnav. However a Second hand PDA (like the Palm Tungsten T or T2) can be bought on ebay for about £60 and a blue tooth GPS receiver for about £40, mapping software can be obtained on there for about a tenner.

YOu can buy a dedicated Satnav unit for about £200 from Comet now, the Garmin one i think.

Depends what you want really. IF you want a phone to use when you’re not at work then the PDA with built in phone, phone with built in PDA are all quite bulky compared to their phone or PDA counterparts. They’re also less robust than say a normal phone.

The k750i can’t be used for satnav steer well clear of any navigation software on ebay as it is usually illeagal copies that don’t work and when you want newer maps you won’t elligable for them. if you on contract with 02 then you should be able to get a 2s free or very cheeply as an upgrade if they say no say ok ill cancel the contract o2 do not like to loose custom so play em

OK, many thanks for responses, I think I know what I’m looking for now.
