Petrol pump handles spreading virus!

petrol pump handles spreading the virus, nothing short of being a never ending convayorbelt of direct infection…

Wife mentioned this on way to shop, but no worse than any other public handle, ok slightly worse due to length of handle holding countered by petrol fumes not being great environment for viruses.

Designed to get everyone to overfill on fuel causing petrol shortage due to panic buying and more revenue for petrol companies.

Either wash hands after fueling or use latex gloves, dispose of immediately after handling pump.

There will be lots of things like this as nation is in illogical panic mode.

The virus is vulnerable to high temperatures.
Lightly run the flame of a cigarette lighter over the handle.
Guaranteed: Noo more worries!

I use my work gloves - fill up on the way home from work. I probably still get it from the card pin keypad. Slong as people wash their hands and don’t touch the face/mouth/nose between using those and washing their hands they should be ok. I’m more concerned when I see people still getting over each other’s shoulder in the office, people coughing near others (in their palm…) and congregating in groups etc.

The virus is covered in a waxy/greasy coating, this is why thorough washing with ordinary soap, or an alcohol based cleanser is good.
As always, wash hands if you don`t use disposable gloves.
No gloves? A simple plastic bag is good enough. Keep a roll in the car.

would that be before or after theyve been used to crap in as surely every proper truckie carries them for this purpose anyway?

Just going out to fill the car up now, I’ll try that and get back to you on it.

Have seen this all over - not sure why it’s any more chance than any of the other millions of bugs out there. No doubt started on Twitter or Facebook as I doubt anyone has tested the pump handles.

Imagine the anount of feces on there just day to day from the dirty gits who never wash their hands! :open_mouth:

Btw, need to make a new theory that petrol / diesel pumps destroy the virus through fumes, but electric charging points don’t and watch all the snowflakes melt over not being able to charge their Tesla’s. :smiling_imp:

Here’s a clue it’s everywhere and anywhere every surface every item oh and its also airborne. There’s no way of avoiding it.Fuel pump today maybe door handle or door front tomorrow or card number machine/ATM, or the post through the letter box, or your clothes bearing in mind we don’t have NBC suits and decontamination facilities in the back garden.Assuming you’ve washed your hands in disinfectant and the residue is still on them that’s about as good as it gets.

It’s my belief and just mine ok maybe a few others that overwashing of hands drys them causing cracks and wearing out your bodies largest organs protective layer.

Also alcohol can damage your skin’s natural protection.

So although washing hands is important, try a separate moisturiser occasionally also. Yes some gels say they come with it but I don’t trust labels like those that say ‘not tested on animals’ when every individual ingredient has been.

So look at your hands, if they a bit dry moisture a bit and while your at it maybe take the opportunity to knock one out …

Was worried that Dave was giving solid sensible answers with no innuendos for a minute…phew, panic over, he’s giving better advice than anything from the government!

Dave should be prompted to minister for speaking sense.

i tend to use a load of hand cream at bed time and most morning anyway…

My way of thinking is that if I’ve been laying on the sofa for the past hour or two only touching myself whilst watching the wife erotically hoover the front room there’s no need to wash hands yet unless I need to get up. Although the TV remote may need a bleaching.

If I’m sitting here next to a bottle of hand gel constantly squirting all over myself then I’m doing it wrong.

My experience, petrol kills most things, I can’t see the virus living on petrol pump handles,

Another moron who is believing all the false news being spread around social media. This story has already been outed as fake news not that anyone with a functioning brain needed it pointing out to them given that every time you see it the person who supposedly announced petrol pump handles spread the virus changes. I’ve see “a surgeon at ”, “someone I know who’s a medic at ” and “<insert name of random official sounding department that doesn’t exist> has said” as the supposed source.

It was actually leading experts on virus living conditions who released a statement via Public Health England saying it was a hoax.

So who looks like a braindead ■■■■ sat in their cab sniffing the finger they just poked up their arse now?

at the end of the statement denying it they also say it can live on a hard surface for up to 72 hours.
if a pump lies unused for that length of time, then the petrol station would be bankrupt and closed anyway??
they seem to just contradict myself…not that i give a toss anyway but thats what it says…
bit late for me though as ive just filled up the old rangy and camper today using the pump with bare hands… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
