The Sun is effectively saying let’s put the same type of almost 100% sales tax on petrol cars as Denmark does, to force buyers into buying an EV with a laughable 20% tax bribe off the laughable purchase price for their toy car that they pay now.
Even Sun readers aren’t that stupid.
By implication they’ll also want the same petrol car sales tax put on used cars.
The truth is buyers have seen through the ‘climate’ scam and they are voting with their wallets they don’t want EVs or Bozo’s unaffordable nuke fuelled utopia.

Just been reading the other side to that story. desmog.com/2022/02/01/lobby … -question/
Translates as Ford knows that no one wants an EV even/especially with a Mustang badge stuck on the back.

They must be running out of rich people to buy that over priced “Mustang” EV. Besides it’s immaterial what energy source they choose as the UK government has just announced they’re spending £billions on new public transport for the Hoi Polli to use instead of private vehicles. edie.net/bus-back-better-7b … use-buses/
Lots of EU countries signing deals with Sunshine countries Africa/Middle east to produce green hydrogen at the moment, Germany has secured it’s first shipments of “Green” hydrogen from the UEA this year but the contract filings in Abu Dhabi only show Blue hydrogen on the books!!! Oh dear! , The UEA will need to cover the deserts with solar cells to produce green hydrogen.
I cant really see how any EU country will get investment to build out a complete hydrogen infrastructure when the ‘Fit for 55’ green deal will only invest in green energy !!! This green deal taxonomy starts in 2025.

Better to cover the deserts in solar panels then the nuclear biomass and solar nightmare planned for here.
With the win win than we keep ICE powered vehicles.Like EVs the choice of first class train travel is there for anyone who chooses it.No surprise driving the Bentley to the Med is generally the preferred option and twelve ICE cylinders are better than eight.

It’s clear that the agenda is all about diverting oil and gas supplies not leaving them in the ground.
It’s also obvious that manufacturers see a short term profit in flogging an EV toy at an ICE price. Also deliberately trying to confuse petrol fuelled with ICE powered as part of that when the latter isn’t the same thing.
While the all electric nightmare required for EVs is just as good for hydrogen fuelled ICE but without the co dependence on expensive heavy lithium.
Investment bankers generally take a long term view in that regard and ICE already won that race in the first heat.

The powers that be want everybody out of private cars & onto Car sharing clubs or public transport with local authorities now urging people to give up private cars. It’s getting to the point where almost every transportation site is now anti-car. fleetnews.co.uk/news/car-in … ivate-cars

It’s all in agenda 30.Which won’t stop with private car use and obviously has nothing to do with EV v ICE.
You will own nothing and you will be happy.
Obviously the powers that be don’t need to bother about getting elected in this utopia.
So the next time I see a Range Rover parked in the drive of one of the local mansions I’ll demand that I need to use it for a few days for a long road trip.

The legacy auto makers are finding it tough going in their bread & butter Chinese car market lately especially some of the luxury German brands, VW makes 50% of it’s entire profits from the Chinese car market, NIO a fairly recent new Chinese start up electric car company sold more BEV’s last month than BMW, Audi & Mercedes combined. cnevpost.com/2022/04/15/nios-sa … -in-march/
Honda’s Acura brand along with Nissan’s infiniti brand & Stellantis DS brand have ceased building combustion engine cars there because of poor sales & are pulling out of China There’s a heap of stranded assets trouble building up for these companies in the not too distant future.
Jaguar are increasingly looking to be on shaky ground too with their imminent transition to go all electric. youtube.com/watch?v=6XVZudvYiNU

I deal with JLR customers first hand as part off my job.
The big petrol 500 hp + V8 Range Rovers and Jaguars are in more demand than any EV’s or even Hybrids. To the point where they’ll even happily take approved used over new to get them.
In addition to the other lesser forced induction petrol types being the mainstay of all other sales.
The climate agenda is an irrelevance to JLR customers rightly seen as a vociferous loud mouthed minority.
It’s clear that going all electric is commercial suicide for JLR.Just as spending a fortune on diesel engine development was.
As opposed to hydrogen fuelled ICE in the hope that this stupidity will be reversed being the obvious and best option.
As for China it’s a far worse enemy than Russia why would we want to support its economy.
Quoting Carryfast, “As for China it’s a far worse enemy than Russia why would we want to support its economy?”, perhaps we (the West) have only ourselves to blame. A few decades ago, when China was a rising star in the industrialised world, our companies took advantage of the very low production and labour costs out there, (conveniently disregarding their often appalling working conditions), closing down much of our own manufacturing capability and losing the associated skills. Most people bought on price, not quality, unfortunately, which tipped the balance in favour of the Chinese product. Now they have the technology and skills to make the things that we can’t anymore, and the price is rising.
Sad, but true.

To be fair buyers weren’t generally given the choice of higher quality higher price products on the shelves even when requesting it.
While the politicians who implemented all this didn’t actually get a mandate by stating that intent of removal of choice, to the advantage of a hostile power, on the doorstep.
The electorate isn’t totally stupid.
In this case the majority know that we’re being played by a corrupt system.
It’s not difficult to see that we are being lumbered with an unaffordable, dangerous, anything but green energy policy so that Boris can export our fossil fuel resources to the advantage of foreign powers.
Just like the government did with our industry.
I can hear the purists screaming from here that TVR are now going electric & bringing out an electric model of their Griffith model sports car in 2024 electrive.com/2022/04/29/tv … -for-2024/

The fact is it’s impossible to create the equivalent package with the energy density of EV batteries.
It won’t be a ‘TVR Griffith sports car’ because that description would be mutually exclusive with the available battery therefore energy capacity.
There’s obviously no point in ‘screaming’ about it.No one has to buy it and what would be the reason for buying it
When an EV sports vehicle by definition would need to be a 3.5t van on the basis of payload.
Which in this case means battery/energy capacity, increases at a proportionally higher rate with gross weight.IE a higher power to weight ratio and longer range from a 3.5t gross 2 tonne battery payload package than from a 1 tonne gross 250 kg battery payload, package.
EV’s literally rewrite the laws of power to weight ratios heavier means faster.
Oh er missus! New rules coming in at the end of June regards new home chargers for BEV’s, By default they will not charge your ev in the twice daily peak times (morning & early evening), You can opt out but it makes you wonder what will happen if everybody opts out.
Good job I’ve got a “Dumb” 7 kW charger that isn’t connected to the WWW.

It’s obvious that the EV lobby is trying to divert the issue onto range when it’s recharging time which is the issue.
It’s going to take a while at 7kwh.
Shell UK are going all in with 100.000 ev chargers planned where 90% of UK EV drivers will be no more than a 10 minute drive of them. shell.co.uk/media/2022-medi … -2030.html

Not much use when EV drivers are a significant minority of the total and can’t afford to charge at anything more than the rate of the 7kw home charger regardless.
Not much point in having loads of charging stations which no one can afford to use or at best will have to wait hours to fill up.
Let alone if/when one of Bozo’s nuke power stations goes bang in a big way
MG Hot hatch coming to town this year called the CyberE, It’s just started rolling off the SAIC production lines in China. “According to MG, the CyberE will be released on the latest EV platform which supports level 3 autonomous driving, a smart cockpit, and 5G connectivity.”
It’ll be a pocket rocket too with these specs. “It comes in either a 288 hp twin motor configuration or a 284 tri-motor setup and is already on sale in European markets.” carnewschina.com/2022/05/16/mg- … pete-id-3/
