Manufacturing of electric cars has taken another giant step forward with these giant Idra 12,000 ton giga presses made in Italy to bring the manufacturing costs down with Tesla, Volvo & a host of Chinese BEV manufacturers using them now.
The Battery skateboard allows the car to be pressed in a single piece or two tubs , The molten aluminium is poured into the giga press & forms the rear tub then same with the front of the car which is bolted to the battery traction skateboard pack. insideevs.com/news/540924/tesla … mpact-car/

All moot when the end product means less car for more unaffordable money and unaffordable running costs at 30p + per kWh + battery costs + road fuel tax in kind.
While the laughable increasingly desperate EV propaganda proves it.
The truth is EVs only have a 15% share of the market for a reason.
It’s all irrelevant
I suppose it was just a question of time Subaru kills off the WRX STI combustion engine. vnexplorer.net/subaru-kills-off … 38357.html

Not much point in having a general election every four years if a government can set laws applying 13 years in the future.
It’s actually ‘new’ ICE vehicles and nothing which says no hydrogen fuelled ICE.
They’ll also have to sell nuclear energy to the German public.
There are calls to stop dependency & subsidies on Russian oil as quick as possible & slap an import tariff of $25/barrel on Russian imports, As most of the UK’s diesel is imported (1/3rd of that directly from Russia) what’s that going to do to prices at the pump. transportenvironment.org/di … udy-finds/

All taxes based on purchase are actually regressive taxes skewed towards the rich.Because someone on minimum wage pays at the same tax rate as the rich who would otherwise be in the highest income tax rate if it was all put on income tax.
As usual champagne socialists and their Tory mates looking after their own interests and telling the working class that it’s good for them.
As for imported diesel it’s actually low quality Russian crude which just makes rubbish petrol as opposed to sweet light Brent.
This is clearly all about trying to equalising both petrol and diesel road fuels with the laughable price of electric it’s got nothing to do with Ukraine.
Bearing in mind that such a move would crash the civil aviation industry because such a tariff would obviously also be applied to the similar kerosene fraction of the gas oil group of distillates.
Boris is trying to dress up the same old pro nuclear anti fossil fuel agenda as an ‘energy security’ and Russia issue.
When the liar clearly intends to flog off our oil and gas resources to the highest bidder obviously including Germany.
While lumbering us with a dangerous unaffordable nuke fuelled all electric nightmare.
If it was about energy security he would have totally ditched the Paris Accord and net zero garbage and slashed the tax on petrol and then provide grants for spark ignition conversion of the commercial fleet. While banning all further exports of UK oil and gas resources.
He’s a fraud and a joke.
The Government is to deliver 300,000 EV chargers by 2030 spending £1.6billion to build a EV charging network,
“Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “No matter where you live – be that a city centre or rural village, the north, south, east or west of the country – we’re powering up the switch to electric and ensuring no one gets left behind in the process.”
“We have particular concerns around charge point accessibility for commercial vehicles and believe that the Government needs to start planning for HGV-compatible infrastructure as soon as possible.”

What about those of us who ‘want’ ‘to be left behind’ .Because 1 we know that CO2 isn’t a
2 EV’s are an unaffordable dangerous nuke fuelled, inferior solution to that non existent problem.
3 The government wants to tie us to that rip off so that it can flog off our fossil fuel resources for export.
Even Bio-Fuels are going to find it hard going as Russian wheat imports are also off the cards now as the calls to stop using food crops to power cars intensifies. Europe burns equivalent 15 million loaves of bread per day to power cars. transportenvironment.org/di … y-in-cars/

But the anything but green anti fossil fuel zealots selectively don’t seem as bothered about the damage that a nuclear power plant going rogue can do to agricultural production.
As for Russia most of the place can’t sustain any form of agriculture let alone wheat production which is why (The) Ukraine was known as Russia’s bread basket.
Now Russia goes hungry so Zalensky can use Russia’s wheat supplies to feed China.
Ironically added to the insult of Chernobyl taking out miles of farmland.
As for Ethanol its actually obviously being used as an octane booster to make more profit from rubbish quality imported base oil.
Which is why anyone with any sense avoids E10.
While the fact remains is no one is going to leave fossil fuel resources in the ground.
North Sea production is being ramped up not closed down.
It isn’t looking pretty for legacy automakers, Almost every one of the major car manufacturers have had to JV (joint venture) with Chinese brands to produce EV’s. Toyota,BMV & Honda being the latest with Toyota joining up with BYD to make a Corolla/Camry EV model for them & re-badging it a Toyota, electrek.co/2021/12/02/toyota-p … ctric-car/
The whole ICE car manufacturing production of ‘Just in Time’ supply line deliveries is now becoming a thing of the past for them because they haven’t got a relevant EV supply line of materials or batteries whatsoever

Oh er Missus! Campaign to refuse parking permits for diesel cars
“Campaigners and councillors attended the launch of a new campaign celebrating the ‘End of Diesel’, with six billboards across London calling on councillors to ensure their boroughs are diesel free by 2030 or sooner.”
“Oliver Lord, UK Head of the Clean Cities Campaign, added: ‘The end of the road for diesel cars is truly in sight. But we will get there much quicker, and save thousands more lives if we give these polluting vehicles a final push into the scrapyard. Councils have the chance to change behaviour. We want all parties to commit to ending car parking permits for new diesel cars by next year and commit to going totally diesel free by 2030. This would be another important milestone on the journey to cleaner air, tackling the climate crisis and ending our reliance on Russian oil.’” airqualitynews.com/2022/03/31/c … phase-out/

Agree that diesel is a dirty obsolete fuel we can do without.
So why not reduce the duty and VAT on petrol to make it worth converting the commercial fleet to spark ignition.
Also raise the cut off date for new petrol ICE to 2040.
When what he really means is let’s go all electric at 30p per kWh so they can export our oil and gas.
Yeah I agree, I can see them turning the thumb screws ever tighter on diesel vehicles but the way things are at present with the transition to BEV’s cheap cars are going to be a thing of the past & wont be coming back any time soon certainly not by legacy auto manufacturers.
Legacy auto have little incentive to make cheap cars as they’re more focused on the top end of the market because there are bigger profit margins on premium models, They haven’t got the wherewithal to build new cheaper EV’s for the mass market anyway.
The Chinese auto manufacturers are going to eat their lunch dinner & tea within the next few years.

Could have said the same about Volkswagen and the BMW Dixie in the 1930s.
Be careful what you wish for.
