Peter Foden RIP

STRAIGHT EIGHT:
i think that 1ERF was Ernest Sharrat’s plate, sadly no longer with us.

It was Ernie Sherratt’s plate, last time I saw it was on an old white Peugeot (IIRC). Mr Sherratt would still pop in, long after his retirement and was still held in awe by most of the people there. It was after all, his engineering that produced ERF1 (the truck not the number plate)

Through Trucknetuk and this thread I was informed Edwin Peter Foden passed.

I assume it is good to remember him being an active automotive businessman
out of a old established family. Therefor I gladly reflect with the family-tree of
the Edwin as well as Edwin Richard (both married twice) and some pictures.

Edwin Peter Foden (24th February 1930-03rd July 2012) R.I.P.

Hiya…their was two number plates…ERF1 and 1ERF…remember RF reg was Stoke on Trent area only a few miles from
Sandbachthe plate would have been easy to find i would think…Also Beeches from Stoke was the main agent and would have been
in the taxation office alot… you know what i mean nod nod wink wink… Mr Peter Foden always had the number EPF 10 on
the cars he loved, Aston Martins. made by David Brown…David Brown the man who made gearboxes…gearboxes that ERF
fitted until fuller came along. funny how thing work is’n it…one Aston got nicked, some damage was done to it.
the car was recovered into Sandbach. Astons was dead busy and couldn’t get the car repaired very quickly…I had the pleasure of
spending 3 weeks tapping away at the body and getting all the dents out. Jennings resprayed her and the trimmers refitted the
roof lineing and the door cards.then i replaced the chrome work…no rush just get it right.

Put a bit higher because of the ERF NGC and EP Foden pictured

Hiya …very interesting …i never knew where MR Tim Foden fitted into the family now i know…
the last time i saw Mr Peter Foden was on the Revs show trailer at Kelsall steam rally, he had gone
quite old from the year before when i spoke with him…it was quite sad really as i knew him when
he was much younger and i’d seen round the works.
