Did you not have a agreement in place, if not you need to confront the company about it
I would think very few need to claim it now with all the technology about, small companies probably
Yeah I stick a tenner a week on my expense sheet. Get paid it every Friday with my wages.
We did have one brief twelve year old TM who stopped it, so we stopped calling and just ran back to the yard empty. That lasted two weeks before being reinstated.

Just goes to prove that sticking together works.
My lot would have just carried on using their own phones with no reimbursement.

I use my phone about two, sometimes three times a week, usually just an “ok” text to confirm an trailer number for next day.
I guess I should add 45 pence to my expenses…
I don’t claim but then I have an unlimited minutes deal on my phone and if I asked they would give me a company phone anyway, and that’s just one more thing to worry about.
I only use sim only for 13 a month.unlimited minutes.Seems a bit pointless claiming that. How much do I ask for

That is my monthly phone bill [emoji23]
Although, get paid £5 a month as we have to use the company App which includes Satnav.

I guess you should.
I’m also guessing that you won’t.

Yeah mebbys you should, depends how your firm treats you and looks upon it’s drivers, and how petty THEY are about things.
Put it this way, personally I would.
Thanks for all your comments I’m going to stick a fiver a week on me expenses

They should supply you a phone, they’re saving money so you should have a bite of the same cherry…make it a tenner.

I agree. With my lot, if I said “Could I borrow a van on Saturday to go and pick up my new motorbike from Derby?” (120 mile round trip) they’d say “Sure, just put the diesel in” so obviously I don’t screw them to the floor for every last penny I can get out of them.
I’ve worked at places with an “Us versus them” philosophy and then I reciprocate in kind.

Yep,.absolutely
They reap.what they sow,.and that works both ways,.whether they treat you right or treat you like crap.
I’ve been looked after and treated like a grown up in 2 past jobs,.and I was the model employee and I have the references off them to prove it.
Not so much nowadays though, Istill give 101 %, but I aint there to think or do any favours or concessions.

Yeah, but you work for a petty company that, by your own admission, treats their drivers like small children.
I work for a small company, that treats me like an adult. I know, I don’t know how I keep getting away with it, but they simply expect the milk to be collected, and delivered, and somehow, it does. No mission statements, no Elvin safety impact statements, no route discriptions, no phonecalls, no debriefs, no “compliance manager” wanting to “touch base” about some silly infringment, no cameras watching our every move, breath, coffee sipping or twitter interaction. If we have any expenses, like parking, or for cleaning stuff for the cab, it gets paid the same day you put the receipt in. I can run my day which ever way I like, park up where and when I like, and don’t talk to the office for weeks…
I just show up, on my first day, grab the truck and paperwork, and get on with the job.
Asking them to pay me £0.45 towards my phone bill, feels petty to me.

It’s not just the access charges, what about the significant cost of the phone itself?
I claim 60% of the charges and capital cost of the device, on my tax each year.
When I worked for a good firm (oh how I miss that ) they allocated me a phone and let me use it as my own phone 7 days a week unlimited.
That was a good saving on a contract and calls.
I remember no cab phones, no mobile phones, trackers,Telematics, in cab cameras, speed limiters and using paper tachographs or frisbees.
Drive for four days then ring in when empty , find a cafe with a facsimile transmitter or a phone box to call you back on to give the 14 reload addresses , half of them turned out to be registered company addresses in the middle of city and the receptionist would say : No factory here, it’s 160 kilometres away up steep mountains down a mountain goat track, we get drivers coming to the office all the time, then sort it then!
I like that Maoster, we really need a like button Mods.
