You don’t save money overall unless you’re using bunkering cards buying thousands of litres of fuel a week. The prices on fuel cards also don’t change as fast as they do at the pump, at best they’ll change once a month. You win when the prices go up until the next price change but you lose when the prices drop. You’re also tied into using specific places so no nipping into Asda/Tesco for cheap fuel etc when they’ve got a deal on.

I’ve got four fuel cards and they all update their prices every week, and have been known to reduce prices mid-week. However, I agree that the OP is unlikely to save any money with just one fuel card, you need at least three really to be able to play them off against each other.

i see your point gents, cheers

Use a Visa/MasterCard or a debit card
Widely taken everywhere and you can shop around for prices

Not true Conor, we have 4 fuel cards and we get a text every week as to which one’s to use, no text and all 4 are ok. Most cards work out cheaper than the pump and also they are great to use on the m6 toll etc :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
Sometimes it works out cheaper to fuel out on a Friday than use the fuel back at base!

And, if it is one that gives you cash-back, that can also offset the cost.

Manage your credit card - contact us | AA Credit Card

that’s an interesting one apart from the £42 fee

But only a max of £150 per year so minus the £42 all you can save is £102 pretty crap really

Firm I used to work for had 4 fuel cards, they all worked all the time. When the prices for the week came into the office on Monday morning one of the girls in the office would text all the drivers to tell them which fuel card to use that week. If we weren’t near the cheapest we could use any of the others if needed.

I find the best way to save money on fuel, is to use a credit card, and knock em saves a fortune…or fill up and drive off ( can get caught though ) or false number plates…thats a surfire way…but might take a picture from the forecourt of the driver…dont say i dont give good tips.
