People who don't indicate

All four passed first time. Have no reason to lie and were all adi instructors. They were however all young compared to my years. If they were teaching it lots of others would. The same as not using engine braking nowadays. Scarey

Yes things seem to have changed. Re the engine braking - in a car, unless it’s icy or you’re driving down a steep hill, why bother??! It’s far far cheaper (and easier) to replace your disks and pads than get a new clutch or gearbox. I know the old school way was to work down the gearbox in this way, that’s all gone out of the window now.

My step daughter tells me that she was taught that indicators weren’t needed at certain times if no one is around - so I think you’re wrong Albion - this is the way things are taught now.

Bazza, it may be cheaper to replace brakes, but by using gears to slow on a long downhill, you will always have cool brakes should an emergency arise.

A lot of instrutors used a clock face as an example of when to signal right or not. Anything past 12 o clock needed a right signal and anything before did not. Works in most cases.

As I was taught. The point of this thread however isn’t about when you should or shouldn’t indicate 'cos as pro’s surely we all know when it’s appropriate or not to indicate. The point is the arrogance or just plain bad driving that causes issues for other road users. [zb] you Jack, I’m alright springs to mind.

Agree. Pretty much covers it.
So many folk don’t know or just plain cant be bothered.

Fair comment but why not adopt the Euro method.
Indicate when exiting the roundabout.
OR YOU WILL BE SHOT.

that does annoy me but also people in front who brake when nothing is on the right of a roundabout, carry on check your right, nothing coming,GO, don’t bloody brake for no reason

+1. I’ve got a mate that does that and I’ve even asked him why, the answer is in case something comes from nowhere :unamused:

All this with roundabouts and signalling gets on my ■■■■ as well. A simple four exit one is easy. If you’re taking the first exit, signal left; second exit, no signal until you’re at the apex of the first; third exit, signal right until you’re at the apex of the second. BUT, the confusion sets in when people start talking about turning right or going straight on etc. You can’t turn right or go straight on at a roundabout can you. You can only turn left off a roundabout at whichever exit you want, like first, second and so on. Like most of you, I get really p****d off when some bloody bird brain turns off with right indicator going, or carries on round with no indicator. This is normal driving around where I live now… gods waiting room ffs. Believe me when I say that it’s luxury at roundabouts in England compared to the ■■■■■■■ morons around SE, Qld.

Both my daughter’s and nephews were taught the same by three different instructors. The logic being if there’s no one there why indicate. I had a fairly heated conversation with one instructor over it. I told my kids they must indicate no harm will come of it if no one’s there

Give a signal IF it will benefit other road users, If in doubt do.
The reason behind the idea of not automatically signalling is that it will force you to look at what is around before making the decision whether or not to signal.Basically common sense.

ive figured it out!

people don’t indicate… because sat navs don’t tell you when are where to indicate!
