Before my time but I’d go with my dad in his 8 wheeler Atki for Sturge stone to ashwood Dale ,the blast man would put too much explosive in and boom all over the road and pub !

The Guy was one of a pair operated by James Hare (Aidens Dad) out of Sturge Chemicals in Lifford.
It was the first real truck i ever drove.

Jeff and Aden were the every day and twice a day hauliers to sturges ,stone from Ben bennetts mainly and lime from Peakstone ,uncle Doug only filled in with extra tonnage when needed you probably remember him most because he was always sign written up ,they all moved on to artics when 38 tonne came in .
Ex Sam longson ERF E14 on ebay D869BRY twin steer unit ,would make good restoration .

Have you got any photos of your grandad’s motors ? Nice livery if I remember and I think he had a Bedford O model.I keep meaning to ask Doug and forget when I have a word.I’ll try and remember to ask Bruce when I see him but I only see him rushing into Doveridge Post Office for his ■■■■ and leaving the engine running .
