Despite what the title says, this was filmed in Bakewell.

Anyone know the owner of the wagon at 18:00?

that looks like one of ward’s commers from shining bank bonkey , hard to tell with such a quick shot . a lot of ts3 commers around then , cheers , dave

I remember seeing the Seddon of Joe Cantrell’s as a kid, he was a regular o/d out of Ryan & Somervilles quarry along with another similar Seddon artic, I think the o/d with that was ■■? Turner. Other regulars out of Ryans at the time in the late 60’s were “Ron Puddle” with a yellow 16 tonner ERF LV, and the 2 x “Mason’s” (a father & son from the Burbage area) who each ran pale blue Dodge K1050’s. Another o/d from the Burbage area in the late 60’s was “Geoff Slack” with an all Black D1000 who ran out of Grinn Quarry, does anyone recognise any of these names or know anything of them, how I wish I’d have got photo’s of their lorries at the time.
Does anyone else recall the orange 16 tonner International around in the late 60’s belonging to a place called “Knight’s” from Ashton-U-Lyne.
Or sometime when a wooden weighbridge in Topley Pike was flattened by a run away lorry, it had been left ticking over when the handbrake loosened itself.
Are there still any old drivers around that remember a teenage lad in the Devonshire Hospital which would constantly wave from his bed, to all the drivers as they began the slow climb up Long Hill … I wonder what became of him.

Think it could be Eldon Hill the plant at the bottom looks right.

Another unknown location. Any lads know where this place is? Again somewhere in the Peak District.

I worked with John Cantrell at Mark Young’s, He was 65 when he left Youngies and that was over 10 years ago. He drives a 580 topliner pulling a curtainsider for his son in law Lomas Distribution…

Hi Barry, I remember Mike very well he had a dark blue Foden with a big cow catcher up front, running blocks out of RMC at Dove Holes then doin a Nth Wales load to get him home, he s a good bloke cheers Sepo

Dave … Thanks for the reply, that’s the name I’ve trying to remember, Ron Wharton.
Can you tell me what Geoff Slack went on to run after the D1000, I can remember he fitted it with a perriscope type thing to look into the body.
My dad (Eddie Hartley) and him palled up through both running D1000’s out of Grinn around 1969, then me dad bought a turquoise Dodge K1050 in 1973 and went on contract with Eldon Hill.

Paul.
