Im currently out of work, left my job for my new born had some money saved up but now thats starting to run dry so need to get back into it. Thanks for any replies .

Too many acronyms. I’m going to bed.

Good night :unamused:

PDP …?..?

I assume you’re talking about the Petroleum Driver Passport, I don’t know anything about it but the link below should provide the information you want.

Hello mate,I had the same problem trying to get the magical PDP.And still not got it now, passed my ADR in January.Put my cv out there to numerous company’s but never had a reply.

In terms of tanker work I would try and source out the agency’s that deal with allied bakeries and the milk ect.I found a lot of the tanker companies where only interested if you have tanker experience as they want you to know all about the serge/movement of liquid whilst driving.

I did get a little bit of feedback about how the tankers companies employe and that’s,that they will have a certain quota per year to take on trainees to train for the PDP.

You could however go down the gas tanker route or the like that don’t require PDP that’s the way I have got into it.I start my new job on the gas tankers today.

Good luck.

I passed my ADR a month ago and I’m in need of some help, or more precisely information on how I gain my PDP. I have no experience in this field despite wanting to get into this niche market, I realise I’m probably out of luck trying to do this due to my lack of experience, but I’m keep to learn about it & doubt you can’t knock me for being ambitous, I know I may have to think about going on the ■■■ (vacumn) tanks somewhere just to gain some tanker experience, and add that experience to my CV before ultimately moving up the ladder to petroleum tankers.
Some of you may be able to tell me, is the PDP in house?
As I’m struggling to find any training companies who specialise in the PDP, if any of you know of such companies I’d be greatful of any contact details etc.
Im currently out of work, I left my job for my new born & at the time I had some money saved up, but now thats starting to run dry so need to get back into work somewhere, with petroleum tankers being my ultimate aim in career choice.

Thanks for any replies .

FTFY

I’ve looked at this in the past, but not actually done it…

The PDP is basically in 2 parts pal, a theory segment done in a classroom, and a practical part done on site. Because of the practical aspect only really the fuel firms can do the PDP, and one trainer I spoke to said he used to do the full PDP but can’t now as the fuel companies won’t let him on site and have basically taking the training in house.

I know that’s not much help, but it’s all I know!

Don’t worry about a PDP until you actually get a job driving a fuel tanker - it’s not something you’d be expected to already have. If you get a job and they want you to do one, it’s only a couple of hours, and can usually be arranged within 7-10 days, so don’t worry about it too much.

When I first started teaching it I hadn’t realised that the two parts (theory and practical) of it have to be completed within three months of each other, and the practical can only be completed by your employer. So, no fuel company employer, no PDP.

I’m doing my Adr at the end of this month and it looks like unless your gonna get a full time job with an Petroleum Company don’t bother with the PDP as you have to have a Theory & Practical Refresher test every year, and I’ve not found anywhere you can do the Practical yet

I’ve done my ADR last year in July. Asked about PDP course on the ADR training and theory is only valid until 4 months so you have to complete the practical part in that time.
I went down on the Gas route on agency. Worked the winter period for them, now I’m on fuel tankers and they’ve done my PDP.
Most of the fuel companies ( if it’s not all of them ) use their in house training for that any way.
