Paying back reduced rest

Hi 1st post on here been browsing on & off for a while & found the answers to a lot of my questions through searching on a google & taking me to here.

I took a reduced rest of 32 hours which needs payed back by the end of this week, so I owe 13 hours.

I finished my shift this morning Monday at 03.45 & will restart tomorrow Tuesday at 06.45 which is a 27 hour rest.

Will this pay back my reduced rest as a 9 hour daily rest + 18 hours or would it register as a 27 hour weekly rest meaning nothing is payed back?

I’ll get a 45 hour rest commencing Friday

Hopefully this makes sense, thanks

You can use the 27 hour rest period as a regular daily rest period of 11 hours and compensation of 13 hours for the reduced weekly rest period.

I’m sure it goes without saying that the 27 hour rest cannot be used as compensation and a reduced weekly rest period, so you will need a weekly rest period for this week, but if you start a 45 on Friday that’s taken care of also.

I should probably have made it clearer that the 27 hour rest period can only be used as compensation if it will not put you over the 144 hours (six 24 hour periods) between weekly rest periods.

I was assuming you had a weekly rest period some time over the weekend.

Yea I had a weekly rest of 47 hours before starting my shift at 16.30 Saturday, I was planning on finishing at 13.30 on Friday to pay back the reduced rest but good to know it’s already payed back then.

Thanks for your reply

If required I think you can attach compensation to a reduced rest. Obviously not required in this case though.

You can attach compensation for a reduced weekly rest period onto any rest period of 9 hours or more, so yes it can be attached to a reduced daily rest period.
