In my tax credits statement for this month it is showing extra declared income of £255 for work that I haven’t done, for a company I have never heard of.
Dodgy looking company with a string of mailbox addresses and no accounts.
They declared this fake income to HMRC so I can only assume it’s some kind of scam hoping to cash in on the rebates.
Bit different to other scams as you are not involved at all and you will have money stopped from your tax credits automatically if over the threshold so keep your eyes peeled if applicable.
I don’t think this would be about “Rebates” but rather a way for someone with a very similar name to yours - getting paid their gross pay net, cash, weekly by said mickey mouse outfit - whilst you end up getting a back tax bill for it…
I don’t know if you do agency work. If so some of the agencies use an outside source or separate company to pay you even on paye. They can take ages to report the earnings. I once had something appear on my tax account from 6 months previous the company was registered in nicatoa there are all sorts of scams agencies pull.
I’m on agency paye , I work for logistics people
But are paid by easy solutions , I’ve had no
Issues other than 2/3 letters a week from
Tax office telling me my tax code will
Change to x,y,z due to owing them x,y,z amount
Of tax ( though my tax code has stayed at 1250 l )
, never had any interaction with tax office when employed for 30+ yrs
Mate who is agency & has been for yrs & claims
To know everything there is about this agency lark says
It’s because I earn that much ( £1104 ) last
Week , says it puts you in a different tax band
I’ve not got a clue & just take the money ,
Mrs is having kittens about the tax letters & said
She’d kick me out before loosing her house
…That’s why if an agency ever says “You’ll need to sign up to our umbrella company de peul/superstart/ouankbobbery” etc etc - I’ll not be signing up with that agency.
“Do you do PAYE?” is the first and only question I ask when making the initial phone call…

Funny that, I was in Stobarts today for an LP agency shift.
Waiting around as usual for a fleet number, there were many others both employed and agency standing around waiting (safe distances, apart from a group of EEs huddled in the smoking shelter). Everyone I spoke to was moaning just as much as usual about the pay and hours, plus extra moans for how they were being treated with the current crisis.
Eventually I was sent home after being told that all agency shifts had been cancelled and that work had “dropped off a cliff”.
All of that yet you are sailing around pulling a grand+ a week out of your ■■■, without a care in the world!
If you have a yard full of trucks actually based at a toilet roll factory and are standing down available drivers, then it looks like the rush is over, which is a shame as it would have come in handy right now

I get 13 ph which is fine by me , do 70 hrs x 4 nights out & its £1000 , again that’s fine by
Me ( I’d happily knock a day off that to be honest ) ,
I packed up last thurs to fly out to Cyprus sat , but got cancelled so I’m off on hols , so maybe things have changed since last thurs when I broke up ( I don’t really care ) but in all the time
I’ve worked for them I’ve never had a day cancelled / been sent home ( they’ve
Stuck shifts on joined up this week ) for the a month from
When I return ( that last week being yesterday ) which seems
A strange thing to do if they’ve no work , I guess will find out
In a weeks time
I’ve not got a care in the world as I listened to my dad &
Always put money away for a rainy day , but reading this
Board of late I’m one of the few who have !!!

no they do it for paye as well…
When an umbrella outfit says they do PAYE - what they actually do is what I call “Pseudo-PAYE” where they deduct what appears to be the correct amount of tax and National Insurance contributions - but fail to then hand it over to HMRC, meaning that if the outfit then goes ■■■■-up that same financial year - guess who gets a HUGE back tax bill for all one’s earnings that entire tax year - that you’d already paid full tax and NI on!!
