Heres a blast from the past. Safeway Supermarket Volvo F7 and he is heading in the direction of Ferndown/Ringwood.

Husk of Dover Scania 110 seen here in London.

Atkins Iveco negotiating a roundabout on his way to Poole docks. They never looked the same white…

It’s possible that this was operated by a bloke called Todd. In the later '70s and early '80s he ran an unmarked blue drawbar outfit like this one in and out of East Kent Packers in Faversham with fruit bins for the surrounding farms but it was an Atkinson Defender.

Great to see the Gee photos coming back onstream Dean!

Welcome back Dean!
You’ve got me there, I’ve no idea who’d Scania that is. Any idea when the picture was taken? It’s red, so could have been Portland Plant’s but I’ve never heard of them running a Scania. If it’s not them and I had to have a wild guess, it’d take a stab at Portland Stone, maybe pulled a low loader as the roof spoiler is missing? There were a few small operators on Portland, but I’ve never seen that one before. Any ideas Lee Roberts?

Actually I’m wondering if it’s Dave Bevis’? Maybe ex Comptons, it’s a bit of a guess, and I’m searching for a picture that will back my theory up but I can’t find it! Failing that I’ll ring Dave up and ask him.

Hi Dean, Some great pictures from you as ever. The day cab Volvo was one of Connals of Glasgow.
During my time, early 1970s with Robert Baillie at their Wigan depot, Connals used our yard as a change
over point, The Scottish night trunk drivers went to local daytime bed & breakfast etc, and some
local lads did day work delivering " Corn Products " cooking oil from Paisley to Manchester, and then
loaded double deck pallets of glass bottles from Rockware Glass at St Helens or Doncaster for the
night trunk lads to take to Paisley. There are a couple of pictures of Connals Volvo units in Baillies
yard on pages 1 and 2 of the Robert Baillie thread on here. These pictures from Eddie Heaton.

Cheers, Ray.

Hello Dean good set of pics, the Antars especially were a real workhorse for the military, by the way a bit of useless info, military Antars were never known as Mighty Antars that term was purely for the civilian versions, probably not a lot of people know that  Franky.

Cracking pics Dean. Welcome back

Hi Dean,welcome back.
I don’t know City Fuels but Foden has a Nottingham reg plate. Will endeavour to find out.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was a 4-wheeler (Defender is an 8-legger, post 1970) with a trailer, it was bought for restoration a year or so ago, having been stored under cover for donkey’s years

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was a 4-wheeler ‘Knight’ on an H-plate (Defender is an 8-legger post 1970), running with a trailer. IT was bought for restoration a year or so ago, having been stored indoors for donkey’s years

DEANB:
Suttons Transport from St Helens always run a smart fleet and back in the 60s,70s were a large customer of Atkinson trucks.
Heres a few of there trucks and an intresting article from 1964.

Back with a bang, Dean!! Thank you

The T Cab Scania was operated by Richard Paisley if I remember correctly. He was based in the actual port at one point, I believe he also operated All Clear Skips running a handful of those Turkish BMC skip loaders. Downsized a lot now operating out of the former Plant & Commercial yard in Victoria Square still on the island.

Yes, correct: 4-wheeler Knight not Defender. Glad it was saved! :sunglasses:

Is this one of his■■? Initials on number plate RAP - could it be Richard Paisley■■? Seen here going round Charborough Park near Wimborne!!!

Dean B,
Good morning , Cadwalladers were based in Pontypridd. The Sed Ak 400 could possibly have been run by Colemans based in the Forest of Dean. That is based on the trl: number on the head board and the livery
Regards, Allan.

Kenfig Bill,
Good morning,
Re: Greenings Killay, in the late sixties I drove an Albion Cheiftain on the steel out of the Abbey.
Greenings also ran one on the same work. Very smart livery. The one I drove had the Albion 4 pot engine which was a bit underpowered. Not sure if Greenings was the same spec: The guy that drove it was a ginger haired guy who wore glasses but for the life of me I can’t remember his name.
Regards, Allan.

Nice one! I’d forgotten about him. Did he run a Renault Premium at some point? I remember the BMC’s, I photographed one where Holder Bros yard was.
