Not too sure where exactly possibly on the industrial estate by the railway station or maybe on one of the nearby quarries.
Ryvita Seddon Atkinson seen here returning to base in Poole.
The Swanworth Quarry Leyland has had a hard life, although all of there fleet always looked tired.
I imagine this is a subby for Interoute as not there colour scheme. This F12 is seen leaving Westbourne,Bournemouth and heading in the
direction of Poole. No doubt heading to the docks to pick up a trailer as Interoute had an office on the docks and used Truckline alot.

“Camion Stew” Anyone recognise the Scania 111 car transporter ■■Looks like Sheertrucks from Sheerness, Kent Dean. Lots of European car imports through the port in the 70’s / 80’s if I recall. Bit of a peach job, decent money etc. I believe. Not sure what became of them, the transporter lads would know more. Paul.
Yep Sheertruck also had a depot in Swindon just off the A419 got bought out by Ontime Automotive as did a few others
Thanks for the info Rob.

Hi Dean,
Saw the Comart photo - it’s my Dads old unit F89 - SVT 953 N great motor - did some miles in that as a kid
Cheers

The rollonoffs were top heavy Dean and when fully freighted you needed to be careful on bends and roundabouts, at smiths our largest container was 45cuyd and predominantly used on demolition sites, wasn’t too bad with rebar in but if they put RSJ’s in there too they rolled like a spanish galleon! At shanks our biggest container was 40cuyd, again depending on how they were loaded they would roll badly. My favourite load was filter cake out of Pontypool or Fawley, 20yd container fully loaded weightwise but only half full, they rode a treat. The one in your photo looks like a 40 or 45yd compactor so will probably be fully freighted.
Anyone recognise the Volvo F89 says Frank ■■? on the door.
The F89 belonged to Frank Robbins from Avonmouth they did a lot of work for GKN pallets back then.
Dean B,
Good afternoon, the Morgans of Cwm Foden is ex Faber Prest Steel Distribution, MK 02 HYL.
When I worked there i drove MK02HYV, thought it was a fair machine but sometimes it would blow the intercooler pipe off.
Regards, Allan
Hi Dean welcome back, just a guess but with no lettering on ERF looks like an ex Freightliner vehicle.
Hi Dean
thanks for the Drinkwater Merc. A much easier shift in that than the Foden S39 it would have replaced id imagine!
Note the steel bar across the screen to protect it from escaping rubbish as it loaded the bins into the front.

Thanks for confirming “Kempston” they look top heavy. Was talking to a driver that used to drive those Fodens on Dorset Council and he said
exactly what you have said, about bends and roundabouts.

Thanks for the comments “finbarot”. Dont think they could have been that impressed with the Merc as nearly all the photos
after Fodens are Volvo F7’s.

Morning Dean.
That’s a new one on me,I don’t recall ever seeing a Beefeater Gin tanker before.Unit has what looks like a VS Luton reg plate and I’d guess at the hazchem board displaying 1170 Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol).Incidentally I think Whitbreads had/have a big site at side of M1 near Luton, maybe Beefeater is one of their brands? I can’t make out the wording on the tank side.
Sorry,double post.

It could also be a contract unit being used for a different job, happens frequently with some of the bigger companies.
