“Camion Stew” Anyone recognise the Scania 111 car transporter ■■
Looks like Sheertrucks from Sheerness, Kent Dean. Lots of European car imports through the port in the 70’s / 80’s if I recall. Bit of a peach job, decent money etc. I believe. Not sure what became of them, the transporter lads would know more. Paul.
Sheertrucks had the kia and hyundi and honda work out of sheerness, they later got a slice of the landrover contract at solihull. They kept part of the honda work when honda opened the Swindon factory and the imports at Avonmouth. They later were taken over by Ontime until ontime threw the landrover contract in about 2008. I,me not sure about the honda work after that. You,re right about the money and conditions, first class, some companies are paying less now than we were getting in 2007.
Thanks for the comments chap, heres another one. If you have a look at page 431 i posted some stuff about Sheertrucks.

Hi Dean.
The tank being pulled by a DHL unit would be for carrying acids, the shroud would lessen the spill risk - at least that’s what I reckon. The hazchem label has a flammable and a corrosive diamond but I can’t make out the UN code.

Can’t say as I’d fancy an heated depository, but each to their own
That is one smart looking bit of kit and years ahead of aerodynamics on a big scale.
I came across the unit later in it’s life when I was on holiday in the Lakes, late '70s IIRC. It was part of a travelling theatre. Later still it went into preservation as a recovery.

Good afternoon, the Seddon with the short tandem behind it looks to be loaded with steel so it could belong to Claytons of Rogerstone nr: Newport who used to work out of Llanwern , but I may be wrong.
