Hi Dean i see you have been very busy on this thread today with posting articles and a mixed batch of truck photos which are great to view plus a few tipppers that i have not seen on here before that Scammell Routeman is a great shot which belongs to an ower driver as you have stated the Foden haulmaster tipper also loook part and worked very hard too same thing for the Scammell Ruteman Many thanks for all your affects on here chaps
Can’t make out if it says Hitchin on the side name board? A little story about the name boards on the side of the body, on the older vehicles (I’d guess this is one of them) were steel sheets riveted onto the body, aluminium reacts with steel and corrodes, iirc a lorry from the Bletchley depot had one come off for this very reason narrowly missing a pedestrian, every lorry was brought in and had the name boards welded on and thereafter all new vehicles had them welded.

There were plenty of different tippers on that new road Daz.
Bit surprised they were using the London companies like Donoghue though as there were loads of local companies.

20 mpg (about 14 litres / 100 kms) is certainly very good. That was the consumption of my 2001 Range-Roger P 38.
