Thanks for the details Trevor, good stuff as usual chap.
Great stuff on McGoverns Dean, they used to tip in Shanks Brogborough and Stewartby sites from 4.30 in the morning until last thing at night, had their wrecker on site several times after one of those trailers went over. Mainly use high cube push outs nowadays. There used to be a load of their old trailers parked at Hatfield just off the A1.
The unknown Foden being overtaken by the Williams Scania looks like it could have been one of those operated by the mail order company’s at the time G.U.S. / Littlewoods as they ran trailers like that and odd length boxes.

Great photos here again Dean that A. L. Benham & sons Routeman i havent seen before which is god send
That was a nice pic Daz. You wont have seen any of them before mate as all new pics. Mark gives them to Paul who then cleans up and processes
the negatives and then sends them to me for posting. So you lot are the 4th people to see them.
Rgd’ing RJB Neale, I remember them very well as i spent a lot of time in the Barking and Dagenham area as a kid…However, i don’t remember them ever having anything else after the Marathons.
I think they must have packed up soon after those magazine articles were published.
I do remember the ERF’s though that they had before the Marathons and a few Fords too.

I think their depot may have been on Ripple Road Barking, just up from A E Evans and Felgate Transport?.
