Re the John Carr lorry, something in the back of my memory(whats left of it) tells me that they were from the Doncaster area, timber merchants maybe ?
Cracking pics as ever Dean
John Carr was taken over by JELD-WEN apparantly, their head office is on Retford Road Sheffield S13,I used to take standards of timber into there off Canada Dock L’pool int 60s.It was called Rothervale Joinery in those days.
Thanks for the details about John Carr Chris.

Hi Dean Drake Bros were from Pollards Moor, Bartley near Cadnam, they were first and foremost coalmen but did a bit of general haulage as well, used to ride me bike past there yard every day on me way to Bartley High School (it was on a hill) chairs Buzzer.

will remember were on the corner as you come over the lifting bridge and turned left into Poole docks used to operate

Anyone recognise the ERF tipper seen here between Poole and Ferndown ?
I recognise this tipper from the early eighties when I drove tippers for FW Eaton transport, it was owned by an old guy that lived in the Ferndown area he was owner driver and used to work out of Swanworth Quarries.
Thanks for the info Steam.
Swanworth quarries used to run the 6 wheeler Leyland’s back then.
Always remember my grandad telling me that one had a bad accident and went into a house in Corfe Castle.

Frankydobo:
Interesting 401 articles Dean, I had a B Reg 6x2 also B150 GTN with the ■■■■■■■ engine. I’ve heard and read many knocking the 401 but for me it was a good machine and the most comfortable bed of all and much better than any of the foreign makes I drove, sadly I never did get a photo of it, just never thought about it for many of the motors I had. Franky.
Thanks for the comments Franky, who did you drive that 401 for ?
