Hi Dean. No,only PD Storage. The only Texaco depots I went in were Llanelli and Canvey Island.
Ok Chris, PD Storage does not ring a bell were they on the docks ?
Hi Dean,I only went once, but I’m sure they weren’t on docks. It was formerly known as Corrals who were fuel merchants.Powell Duffryn Storage bought them out.I know somebody who will know,I’ll ask.

Hi Dean
Thanks for the Drinkwater S20
That one unusually for them, as they were committed Gardner users, had a Foden 2 stroke which kept cracking its heads. It was used as a demonstrator for potential customers as the Powell Duffryn system was new in the UK.
Talking about the Powell Duffryn system, was it from America ? I have this 1962 advert that shows an American International
truck athough the company address in in Cardiff.

Barker and Geary are still going strong in Kings Somborne I don’t think they run any transport now but are well known for their fencing and gates in the area.Used to meet them in different forests in the South,a chap named Peter Phippen drove for them at one time.
Regards
Richard
Thanks for the info about Barker & Greary Richard. Nice to hear they are still in business.

Buzzer:
Hi Dean Kings Sombourne was the home of Barker and Geary midway between Romsey & Stockbridge, there yard was behind what I assume was the family bungalow only a small yard in the beginning but they specialised in making automated gates and general fencing materials, Chairs Buzzer.
Thanks for the pic Buzzer ! There is alot going on in that pic.
The lorry at the front could be Walls Ford D series ?
I wonder who operated the coaches parked in the shed ■■
It looks like the one in the yard is having a wheel changed ? Not sure what make it is possibly a Leyland ■■

That explains things Chris. I never knew that Corralls were taken over by PD Storage !
Corralls yard was just on the left after you went over the Poole lifting bridge. The yard had a one way system and you
entered the yard by turning left as if you were going to the docks, then taking the first left after a couple of hundred
yards. You then exited after the weigh bridge back onto the road with the lifting bridge on.
Heres a few pic’s that “may” bring back some memories although if you only went there a couple times they probably
wont !!
The weighbridge was a pain if you were in an artic as was too short so you had to split way.
This is what the exit looks like today, all gone and now Sunseeker the luxury boat builder have a factory there.
Bedford from 1976. (Click on pages twice to read)
Foden from 1966.
Yard scene. They certainly run a mixed fleet over the years.
The LAD cabbed six wheeler having a wheel change could be either a T300 Dodge or Leyland Comet. Its the short door cab as it’s sitting squarely over the front wheel and not forward as in the long door. The long door Leyland’s being the Beaver, Hippo, Octopus. Pity the photo isn’t clearer even when enlarged. Franky.

Hi Dean.
ABN stands for Associated British Nutrients I think.Anyway their feed mill is on Darlington Road Northallerton and I see them every day coming through Thirsk.Looks like they work 24/7 with both artics and 8-leggersThey make pig and poultry feed. They have sites all over the UK,big company.
EMR (European metal recycling) are a massive player in the scrap world with depots all over the UK, Their head office is in Warrington.
