William Kirk were from Bollington near Macclesfield, I was on a Rolls Royce course in 1980 with one of the sons. I believe they have sold out now though, possibly to ROF who used all the cash available from his overpriced R & S courses and other such scams?
Pete.
Thanks for the info Pete.

This is a fomer Bridgewater AEC Mandator. I’ll set DEAN a challenge. This Mandator was shown in an AEC Gazette when it was newly in service with Bridgewater, photographed on Manchester Docks (or Salford Docks depending on which side of the Ship Canal you lived) alongside a cargo ship. I’m sure you’ll find it DEAN!
Found the photo of this Mandator when new with Bridgewater Transport.

HRS:
Cracking pic of Lagan’s F10 just shipped in on Truckline seen leaving poole docks. Shame so many of these Irish companies have
disappeared i thought they had some of the best looking fleets.
Good morning Dean,
The reason a lot of Irish hauliers disappeared was some one let the cat out of the bag and told them all about G V W and TAR weight.

I remember when Volvo were asked if they could produce a 30 tonner (8x4) and they said, we do. F86 6x4, due to axle weight they were right of course but they did not realise back then that the UK re set them for the UK. End result Irvine, Scotland. Think I told you once, New Milton Sand and Ballast had the first. Harvey
Certainly were some stories about the Irish hauliers Harvey.

Do you have a pic of that New Milton Sand & Ballast F86 ?

Pete.
I don’t have the necessary pension or bank manager to have taken on Kirk’s, Pete. I haven’t a clue who bought the business- they were a sizeable outfit. I was subbed to them for a month or two every year during their Christmas rush. Traffic office were very knowledgeable and you could always rely on their night shift to load everything in the correct order. Liked their “pound of flesh”, though!
Thanks for your comments “ROF”
