Watts Roadtrain. Well half of one !

Had one of these on before. Cant remember the company name but theystink as they collect all the waste from
butcher shops !

T A C stood for turners asbestos cement, I think eternit was the group they belonged to. they had a factory in tamworth, long gone now houses.
I don’t think they had their own transport always used subbies.

Bellfield Brothers are from Thorncliffe near Leek, still in business.

I notice there isn’t a pic of the six wheeler Constructor that Mick (Malmic on here) ran, it would have required a VERY fast shutter speed to photograph that flying machine!

Pete.

Hi Dean, regarding the six wheel Scania it is Solaglas from Bradford i drove this one, happy days. Les.

Hi Dean,
Hope you are well?
Cracking articles and photos’ as always mate, thanks for your time spent posting them.
The Volvo is one of K.T.C edible oils based in Wednesbury West Midlands, Cheer’s Pete

Hi Pete

About 1979 I delivered tanker loads of Edible oil to their bottling plant at Wednesbury that was situated in an old Mill or Factory. That period I think KTC had a tautliner pulled by a Ford Transcontinental and recall they had a four wheeler Leyland as well. Found Volvo S50KTC. They have come on leaps and bounds since then and have a state of the art factory at Wednesbury and Liverpool. Think KTC Liverpool site is on the old Peerless Edible Oil plant at Dunnings Bridge Road Bootle and also situated on the old Mothers Pride Bread plant at Aintree.
Off the subject 1969 I worked for an Irish haulier Williames Transport Group pulling out of Trafford Park, we had a depot at Farrow Road Wednesbury (that does not exist anymore) believe part or near to the old site KTC building.
Cheers Kev

i collected at KTC Wednesbury,it was then on the old Patent Shaft steelworks site and the gates were still in situ butnow saved and displayed, got pics but can’t post since the settings have been changed

Weren’t Rygor from Westbury, Wilts? Not sure (can’t remember!) how big they were or if they had more than one depot…

Revans Transport was run by Richard Evans,Albert Evans’ son. He did a bit of Benelux work with lift on/off tanks, for a firm based in Marlow.
He also ran a sleeper cabbed Mandator,I tried to find out who the original owner of the Mandator was,it has a 1973 Derby/Nottingham plate.

Thanks for the pic of Mandator Chris. I remember going in my uncles 8 wheeler Octopus which had a similar cab !

That Mandator finished up at Sheffield depot, repainted into A E Evans’ livery………………a not very good photo taken at Barking.

Hi all, every old pictures of haulage yards were proper yards ,not like today all concrete ,lines painted on them ,goes to show how much has changed

I used to deliver fuel oil to de Mulders in Doncaster  I had my one and only industrial accident there. One 2oft high storage tank only had a manhole in the top for delivery, steel ladder welded to the side of the tank for fit young drivers (me :unamused: ) to climb with a delivery hose. Well your man got to the top few rungs and the welding on the ladder failed :open_mouth: down I come via the express route and the next stop was Doncaster Hospital.
I didn’t know at the time that I’d fractured a couple of vertebrae in my spine (just felt a bit sore) but now all these years later arthritis has set in and I curse de Mulders on a daily basis. :imp:

Thanks for the input “revman” yes the settings are a major pain. Have you tried editing your pics ? I find if you reduce stuff
down to 90% they should load on the site ok.
