recognise it ?

L2087p.JPG

I think it’s an Alfa Romeo Montreal

It’s actually a Datsun Sunny.

I think you’re looking at the wrong picture there  I’m talking about the red car overtaking the Foden, not the one behind the wimpey tipper

The famous ‘Bonzo Bear’
Operated by Chris Miller of Preston this 1978 registered Mack F700 Reg No NFV 803T, nicknamed ‘Bonzo Bear’, is pictured here in 1979 on the A62 heading West towards Oldham at Delph Station crossroads about to start the long assent up to Scouthead.
At the rear is Volvo F88 Reg No PHY 21M to help push the load which was a 200 ton main Inlet valve destined for the Dinorwig Hydro Electric power station in North Wales.
Another shot showing ‘Bonzo Bear’ hauling the 200 ton main Inlet valve, destined for the Dinorwig Hydro Electric power station in North Wales, along Union Street in Oldham.
Due to a number of bridges the heavy outfit would have had to cross over in using the by-pass it was decided to route the load directly through Oldham town centre.
After Chris Miller packed in it was exported to Kenya but has now returned to the UK
for restoration and is seen here in June 2017 after being collected at the docks by Fagan & Whalley

Intresting comments and pics Paul ! Wheres the pics of the F88 mucker ■■ :unamused:

P8050062p.JPG

Hi Dean,
some great Bedford TM rigids you have posted here.

Just looking at the K Foam TM Luton…I knew this truck very well back in the early 80s after it finished it’s life with K Foam…it was operated by an owner driver from Yorkshire who sub contracted to Silentnight cabinets.
They were very smart looking trucks the TM back in the day but not very popular with the moving industry !

I can only put this down at the time to the night of the cans back then…lutons were a big factor back then…so a good size Luton on a TM would have been discribed as a bridge monster

I also remember Vanplan built the bodies on the New World cookers TMs also.

Regards Mark

Morning Graham,
Goodyears did have a test trailer like that, from what the drivers on the test fleet told me they used to run tyres under pressure and over pressure as well as the inner tyre flat and the outer with a metal rim round it, like on a jones’s yard crane, incase the inflated one gave way!
It does look like a Hargreaves outfit but I cannot remember them having any of those wide spread grabs on their cranes, may be wrong, usually are!
Nice to see your FL in the book! Cheer’s Pete
